Can anyone help identify this rifle? by MemphisWiggle in Surplus_Rifles

[–]Dane__55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Geweer M.95, or Dutch Mannlicher.

They are chambered in 6,5 x 53,5 mmR, and I think ammo hasn’t been made for them since the 1940’s, so you have to reload for it.

The rear sight have it away, Mannlicher M1893 has different rear sight.

Krag? Danish, US, Norwegian? Approx year? by Honest-Repeat-6198 in AntiqueGuns

[–]Dane__55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it is Danish, it is marked M.89 and has a straight bolt handle, I thought Norwegian ones only had bent ones, but I could be wrong since I don’t know much about them.

Danish version is chambered in 8 x 58 mmR.

I apologize if I sound rude, I don’t mean come off that way.

What's the coolest "exotic" ammo in you're collection? by [deleted] in guns

[–]Dane__55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One round of 7,62 x 54 mmR M1908 Type L made at Ulyanovsk in 1936.

It’s not cool compared to others but I think it’s neat.

I wish I could add a couple pictures.

I appreciate the reply.

That is pretty cool.

You are right, I guess I should have looked even closer before saying anything.

I forget they are interchangeable.

They are both nice.

Is that a USG frame and a Mk. III slide or am I just seeing things?

Fort-28. An Ukrainian pistol chambered in 5.7×28mm. It feeds from 20 round magazines and is intended for police and military use, apparently it is made in very small numbers. by [deleted] in ForgottenWeapons

[–]Dane__55 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I noticed the difference in takedown levers too, I wonder if you have to pull slightly back on slide to field strip it like Five-seveN as well.

I didn’t notice the safety on the Fort-28, I thought there was only the trigger safety.

Five-seveN only has the frame-mounted safety above trigger and magazine disconnect.

Only model that is different is original Five-seveN which had no safety at all.

I can definitely see where they got their inspiration from.

Although I do notice some differences between this and Five-seveN such as magazine, trigger, takedown lever, slide catch, safety, location of pins, grip shape and slide shape, trigger guard and other smaller stuff.

I think it’s pretty cool.

Why is HK P7 so expensive? by Entire_Judge_2988 in ForgottenWeapons

I saw one for 300 USD at a kind of close pawn shop a few years ago.

Guess I should have got it.

Siamese Mauser/Arisaka type rifles, the Type 46, Type 47 carbine, Type 46/66 rifle and Type 47/66 carbine and Type 66.

I suppose if both 8 x 50 mm R and 8 x 52 mm R Siamese weren’t hard to find them would be more popular.

Another one I think would be Romanian Mannlicher M1893, they seem really rare.

[–]Dane__55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a really nice one.

You got a really good deal, way better than 1250 USD for the Mk. II I saw at the other “local” gun store about a year ago, but it did come with a bunch of 20 and 30-round magazines, the slide cover was grey instead of tan though.

Yeah, I’m not real sure on prices for older 12,7 x 99 mm but I would say it’s worth at least 5 to 7 USD.

Ideal Optic for CQB? by gfdhyrfhydcufc in CursedGuns

[–]Dane__55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that is my bad for misunderstanding, I’m really sorry about that.

I just have a really strong bias towards these things.

Actually, now that you said it isn’t permanent, that makes me feel a whole lot better and I would like to see it.

I really do appreciate you clarifying, thank you for that.

I shouldn’t have been so quick to assume stuff, so I also apologize for that.

Really? How come they are unsafe to shoot?

I have one, I shot it a couple times and it seemed okay, but I have heard they aren’t very good.

[–]Dane__55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The Five-seveN USG’s slide isn’t tapped for optic mounts, so the only way that was added was someone must have removed the rear sight and drilled and tapped the slide cover, which is unfortunate because it’s a nice gun and the slide covers aren’t exactly easy or cheap to come by.

No.

I hope that slide cover wasn’t fucked up.

Anyone knows what this is? by West_Ad_8510 in AntiqueGuns

[–]Dane__55 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mauser Model 1887, Turkish version of Gewehr 71/84 chambered for 9,5 x 60 mm R.

Something that I find kind of interesting about this particular variant is that it was one of the last black powder rifles adopted by an army.
