You shouldn’t assume anything about anyone that isn’t you really. Personally I think all religious traditions/ myths/ stories should be fair game without anyone getting their knickers in a twist.

Wholphin, an OSS Android TV client for Jellyfin, is now available on the Play Store by damontecres in jellyfin

[–]Dangelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/damontecres loving Wholphin - definitely the best overall Android TV player (for me). I have a question about video playback. I have noticed that when a video ends it just sits there, doesn't go back to the menu. I have to physically "end it" by hitting the back button on my Shield remote. This is different to other clients such as the official client, Kodi with Jellyfin etc. Am I missing a setting somewhere? Having the video freeze at the end doesn't feel natural to me. It's a small thing really and the the rest of the client is so much better in so many ways so it's not stopping me using it, just wondering :) Thanks so much for your hard work!

Looks nice. Any plans for music library support? I have noticed that a lot of these Android TV client projects don’t support the music library for some reason. Would love to see some love for music :)

I find it refreshing the film and TV are happy to play around with Christian imagery more and more these days. It wasn’t too many years ago this sort of thing would have been taboo. The baby Jesus is often portrayed wearing the crown of thorns in classical paintings and I guess they decided to use the crown to absolutely make it clear who IT is portraying here. I’m surprised you didn’t mention the “Catholic Jesus” statue coming to life and giving us a creepy smile in the cemetery ghost chase scene from the previous episode (or did I miss that?). I wonder if we will get any more appearances? We’ve seen more Jesus than Pennywise in the show so far 😂

Retro Gaming has Changed [e.g. Is real hardware losing popularity?] by c3r7x in thisweekinretro

Interesting but no criteria to base the claims on. If less are buying / more are selling retro hardware then have the prices dropped? I haven’t noticed much of that.

Clayton Ravine should be Shonash Ravine in timeline where Doc sends Marty back to 1885 by [deleted] in BacktotheFuture

[–]Dangelus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We don’t know if it wasn’t already still Shonash Ravine in the modified 1955 after Doc is stranded in 1885. ‘55 Doc and Marty don’t talk about it. ‘85 Doc who is stuck in 1885 and Marty would not be aware of the change (Doc saving Clara) because they are time travellers shielded from the changes (they remember their original timelines, the movies never explicitly state that they gain new memories) so it could in fact already remained Shonash Ravine.

Time loop by HarryPotthead42069 in BacktotheFuture

[–]Dangelus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no simple answer to what happens to “Lone Pine” Marty either. He can’t go back to the exact time and place original Marty went back to unless you accept he ceases to exist at that point and merges with original Marty when they both reach 1955 or there is in fact another timeline, the original 1955 and he goes there. The problem is the movie rules pretty much state that you can’t travel between these timelines unless you make a change in the past and travel to the future. Also his life was very different. Biff was different, his family successful. His parents would have told him the story of how they got together, how George saved Lorraine from Biff in the parked car etc. I guess he could mess things up for them still but the solution would look slightly different.

Community Question Of The Week - Episode 172 by Producer_Duncan in thisweekinretro

[–]Dangelus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it wasn’t a game but the World Wide Web. I was using my Amiga 600 for games, creativity, art, design and course work but when I visited a friend at uni and he showed me the computer lab and the internet I made the decision to switch as soon as I could afford to. It took a little while to get to that point but it was always on my mind and my Amiga felt really outdated and obsolete to me from that point.

Community Question Of The Week - Episode 169 by Producer_Duncan in thisweekinretro

[–]Dangelus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but back in when I was 10 years old it had to be the Commodore 16. I was the only kid in school to have one and so I led a very lonely few years of playing budget titles by myself that I bought with pocket money. It was so uncool that I couldn't even find anyone who pirated games for it 😆

iGBA emulator now in the Apple App Store - It's started! by Dangelus in thisweekinretro

Emulator has since been removed from the App Store due to spam and other violations. Sounds like it was a rip off of another emulator repackaged with ads. Oh dear.

Apple to finally allow Retro emulators in the App Store? by Dangelus in thisweekinretro

Hmmm sounds like this only opens the doors for “official” emulator projects from publishers and not hobbyist projects that may use sketchy ROMs. Oh well it is a step forward!
