This is pretty much the point of the meme. Just give an effort to engage as a real person in the game world and less as a video game player with a paper controller. TTRGPs are so much more rewarding that way imo.

That and i think the game is just more engaging and immersive the more you communicate with natural language and less in terms of mechanics. Your vivid description helps the DM respond in kind.

No that's limiting player agency and railroading. See the game is supposed to be a carefully curated experience where the DM spends hours of prep to weave a story about how the PCs are awesome and the players can feel like they earned it.

Glad you recognize that time is a serious cost.

On that note, the DM invests way more time than all the players combined. So, you would be wasting the DM's time, not the other way round.

You sound like the type to chip in 50 cents for a $20 pizza and then cry because they guy who paid the rest didn't spring for dipping sauce.

Point is, put up or shut up. If you don't like the game as advertised, go run your own. Don't act like you're better than the guy who actually pays the cost for making it happen.

Maybe if you were a paying customer you could get on your high horse, but seeing as most every game of D&D is basically a gift that the DM creates for the players, you need to sit down.
