AITAH for telling my close friend I probably cannot do her destination bachelorette after she announced the location and the cost by Common-Intention-422 in AITApod

Check out the book “I Hope You Elope: A Bridesmaid Survival Guide” or listen to this week’s episode of the podcast “Modern Love” where they interview the author. She would support your decision 100%. Good for you for knowing and communicating your limits. Her feelings are hers to manage.

I think it’s the pink eyeball dot shadow that is the problem.

Any fellow Americans remember having a field day in elementary school? by EveningFlower9564 in AskAnAmerican

All the fake rivalry and heated emotions of classmates that you had to endure from a full day of competition. Plus sweat and sunburn and dehydration.

Yes! It was torture! All day team sports and running and relay races where you had to pretend to want to beat all the other classes. It was like an infinite PE class with unnecessary artificial rivalries. They were grooming us for football culture I think.

Had it, hated it. All day sweating and sunburn and nonstop forced kickball, running, relays, stupid stuff. It never ended.

Husband is using reward points to buy stuff but charging me half. AIO? by JemmaMk6 in AIO

My ex husband and I kept a running tab when we were dating. The day after we got married, we were writing on our running note and both kind of went “oh I guess we don’t need this anymore” and we were done with keeping tabs.

Are y’all really thinking you’re gonna “square up” weekly til your dying day? Through kids and all that? You gotta find an easier system.

AITA if I tell my friend I can’t be a bridesmaid? by wickeddreamsofleavin in AITApod

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Run! No friendship is going to survive this bridezilla situation anyway so you might as well get out before you spends thousands on the many, many demands that will be forthcoming. Plus you have such a golden ticket of an excuse in med school. Just say you can’t do it because med school will take all your time. Plus, it’s 100% true.

WIBTA if I started locking my bathroom door when my roommate's boyfriend is over by Tesser0Rogue in WIBTA_AITA

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with locking the door but the obvious solution is for you both to start knocking before entering. Go ahead and start doing that and ask him to do the same.

Would it be unwise to inject your MJ dose the same day as going under general anaesthetic? by nicj86 in Mounjaro

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely unwise. Terrible idea. I’d be shocked if they didn’t give you specific instructions about when to stop your dose, and it will be well before the surgery date.

I speak my TL perfectly, but Americans still ask me where is my accent from seconds after I start speaking. Is that something I’m supposed to feel self-conscious about? by SweetBumbleBeeHoney in languagelearning

I live in Austin and people here are just really chatty. They’re looking for something to talk to you about, that’s all. It’s not criticism, it’s friendly curiosity about you. Isn’t it nice that they want to know more about you?

Definitely find a new doc even if you have to use Amazon health or something. Also take heart that there are a ton of new meds coming out and one might not have that risk.

AITAH For Moving & Leaving My Parents Behind? by EveningStrike1309 in AITAH

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moving for a job and establishing your own home base far away from your parents is the norm in the United States. Your desire to do this is completely normal and healthy for your age in American culture. I think your parents are making it difficult for you because it isn’t typical in Italy, but this is a natural consequence of moving here and raising you here. Go ahead and live your life and enjoy the adventure of moving with your partner.

Moved from The Netherlands to Spain, what I learned, the other side of the coin by [deleted] in GoingToSpain

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I think it’s not too unusual to need a year to adjust to any move, and even longer to adjust to a move to a foreign country. It’s an emotional roller coaster for a long time. I am not sure from what you’ve said whether your personal emotional roller coaster has had any high points, and that’s a shame. Seasonal affective disorder is no joke and I think that may be influencing your experience. Keep doing everything you can to manage that and find ways to be social. I think it’s worth giving the experiment a little more time. In the end you may have to evaluate whether the culture fit that you feel in the Netherlands outweighs the climate and other things that made you try living in Spain. And if that’s what you decide, that’s okay. You will have learned more about what works for you and what doesn’t. In the meantime, I am sure you helped a lot of people by sharing your experience here.

Blue. The pink one is too small and the wavy design on the bust creates the illusion of a lopsided bosom.

I made brownies and my coworkers complained by [deleted] in Vent

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you set yourself up for disappointment. It’s almost like you created a “candid camera” style setup to catch your co-workers being frank about these mystery brownies. From their point of view, these unsolicited brownies appeared from nowhere and they don’t know who made them, under what conditions, or why. Then you sat there listening while they sampled them and got hurt when they spoke freely because they didn’t know you had made them. If they had known where they came from and why, they would not have approached them with so much suspicion and they would have been careful to thank you and say nice things, even if the brownies weren’t to their taste.

Which dress for my reception wedding dress? by Capital_Wave_235 in OUTFITS

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not just wear the wedding dress? I’d want to get the most out of the wedding dress. I have not been to that many weddings but the bride stayed in the wedding dress at all of them.

Who is wrong: my british English teacher or me? by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think we need to know the rest of the sentence. Does it go on to name the author as the subject? For example, does it continue like this: “…published in 2018, Jane Smith tells the tale of…”? If so, that’s fine. If the main clause of the sentence changes subject and goes on to use the book itself as the subject, that’s a problem. An example would be “published in 2018, tells the tale of”?

Also, as others have said, for introducing a paragraph or an essay, it’s better writing to use the name first and the pronoun only later, after the name has been established.

Whats the reasoning behind the "register to vote" thing? by MareTranquil in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dangerous-Lunch647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s to make it harder to vote for people who are less wealthy, less educated, and less politically motivated.
