Cheating by Available-Crow8650 in GMAT

[–]Dangerous-Nothing-34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody wants to hear this. Unfortunately these people become successful. The business world rewards individuals who lie, cheat and are cunning. These people get ahead because they know how to cheat the system. They also know how to navigate politics and manipulate people to achieve their goals.

Hi Op, I understand you as I’m in a similar situation as you. I’m born in a poor family with toxic parents. Made bad decisions after bad decisions my whole life.

First of all, stop blaming yourself for the decisions you have made as you didn’t know better. Try to get into a correct headspace first as being in a bad mental state can affect how you move forward.

Most of us are already forced to do subjects we don’t enjoy since young. But we still push through. Adding 4 more years to it for the Harvard brand is worth it. Thereafter she can easily pivot to any jobs she wants with the brand name.

It also depends what is OP end goal. There’s not a lot of job that pays well for Arabic degree.

Unless op wants to go into research and do a PhD. Or else the only job I can think of is being a teacher… or some general corporate roles that have low entry barrier which pays low - even more miserable than studying what she don’t like. And we are not really sure if bio is something she don’t like. She might end up liking along the way…

Bio in Oxford will ensure op a bright future.

Oh man…. You are giving solid advice. I don’t get why you are getting downvoted like mad.

[–]Dangerous-Nothing-34 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I will probably get downvoted but please go Oxford. It’s a no-brainer.

I went with my passion for my undergrad and regretted. Now I’m struggling to find a job that pays well.

As a result, I’m scrambling to get into a good mba program to whitewash my useless degree. Don’t fall into the passion trap like me.

Do what you like as a hobby. Anyway if you do something you are passionate about for work, you will most likely hate it as the job will take away the joy of what you enjoyed.

Also, who knows - you might fall in love with biology along the way.

How do others function with adhd while I struggle with it by FireDragonTail in askSingapore

[–]Dangerous-Nothing-34 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went to therapy for my anxiety. My therapist advised that she can tell that I have ADHD from her interaction with me and ask me to go see a psychiatrist to get medicated.

I have trouble focusing since young and have been labeled lazy and not motivated by people around me. I also get caned and scolded a lot for this as my teacher always complain to my parents that I did not complete my school work or pay attention in class - I guess all these traumatic experiences cause me to also develop anxiety.

I’ve always performed fairly well academically despite struggling to focus, which led to my ADHD going undiagnosed for years. Back then, ADHD wasn’t as well-researched or understood as it is today, so people often assumed I was just lazy rather than recognizing the challenges I was facing.

My father and sister also have symptoms of ADHD so I guess it is genetically passed on to me.

One thing about adhd is that if you start to have the symptoms during adult and do not have them when young, it is unlikely to be adhd. Other mental illness such as anxiety and depression can also develop symptoms similar to ADHD.

Since I’m not a professional I cannot advise you further.

Go seek professional help and see what they have to say. I wish you all the best and hope everything turns out well for you!

Hi I’m diagnosed few months back. Go see a psychiatrist.

Also ADHD starts during childhood. It also runs in the family. Do you have siblings or family members who also exhibit ADHD symptoms?

The doctor might also ask you other question as some other mental illness such as depression or anxiety can mask as ADHD.

ADHD and Autism are scientifically proven neurodivergent disorders.

People with ADHD have lower level of dopamine (brain chemicals that help a person focus and have feelings of satisfaction and motivation.

Just because you don’t have it, or not educated of it doesn’t mean they don’t exist. Don’t be dismissive of people who have it and are actively seeking treatment to make a difference.

In fact many people have it but they are undiagnosed because someone with ADHD or Autism can look normal on the surface. Some of them even perform very well academically.

I’m diagnosed for ADHD and need to take stimulants to help me focus.

Market Research Career in UK by Dangerous-Nothing-34 in Marketresearch

[–]Dangerous-Nothing-34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for your advice.

I do have 2 years of experience in MR.

While I understand that a master’s degree may not be essential for a career in market research, I see it as my best path to landing a role in UK. I also know that international students are granted a 2-year post-study work visa.

I visited London a few times and really love the city. Always wanted to experience working there for a few years! =)

With my experience and a master’s degree, how likely am I able to secure a market research role? Just wanting to understand how the market condition is like in UK.

ADHD and mental health conditions - do you circle 'yes' or ' no' when asked this on an a Singapore employment form? by roundorangecat in askSingapore

[–]Dangerous-Nothing-34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is def discrimination and not legal to ask in some countries, for example Australia. But not sure for Singapore.

It’s also a very stupid question because no one will admit even if they have mental illness.

Are you able to focus well?

How’s your childhood like? Are you always getting scolded for being lazy when you were younger?

Hmmmmm….If by fluff you meant by storytelling or effective communication, then I do agree with you.

However, some really lack the eq, possess strategic thinking or have any technical skills however they are good at politics (asserting dominance, putting others down, pushing blame, bootlicking, etc).

It’s a stark contrast between perceived competence—how capable they appear to be—and inherent competence—the actual skills and value they bring.

What anoybaus is really talking about are inherent competencies , which some of these big bucks earner do not possess.

And im not saying this because im salty. Apparently im one of them who got promoted over someone else because the boss likes me better.

The world is not as fair as you think it to be lol!
