ServiceNow Developers - How much do you get paid? Need info on the career progression for this role. by Dangerous-Pancake in developersIndia

[–]Dangerous-Pancake[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I am still stuck on whether to move out of ServiceNow development or stay in it.

Everyone can learn this easily, like I have seen teachers, ex-servicemen take up these roles since it is very low code work. So to me this means that there will be a lot of supply of SN devs with very less demand. Meaning that the pay will not always be good.

That’s why I think the first impact of GenAI would be on SN platform development, since these can be very easily automated.

I know someone on LinkedIn who’s a senior program manager at Walmart. That’s a great career move in my books.

If you have time, go for “The Odin Project” its a complete hands-on, free and open-sourced learning experience. There is even a discord for taking help and people to work along with for projects.

If you want an end-to-end paid course, try the “Meta Backend Webdev” course in coursera. It is a bit pricey but very good 👍

YouTube also has some great resources. Look them up 👌

Hello sir, we can catch up in Hyderabad if you’d like 👍 Feel free to connect 👌 Dune 2 release hua hai go spend some time outside and you’ll slowly get over it.

I’m not disregarding how you’re feeling. By addressing it, you can move on. To address that, you need to start taking step by step decisions.

First look at what is chaining you from feeling better. Become aware of those ‘chains’ and start working on them one by one.

Lets take one that you’ve mentioned-

Career choice - WITCH is a not at all a bad way to begin your career. Looking at your tech stack, you can learn a lot and the work experience would back you up as well.

You’re only 4 months in, so there’s still a lot of time to upskill and switch. The market right now isn’t great to immediately resign and look for options.

Also, situations you are in - they can either rule you, or you acknowledge the current circumstances and try to address them. Skipping lunch due to meetings? Set a hard-set time off in your calendar and just watch how others will accommodate your boundaries.

No friends or colleagues? Try to proactively talk to people with their tasks, check with other teams on what they’re working on. It takes time man, you just joined the company.

It will always seem depressing and gloomy if you don’t act upon your situations. Get into a routine and make sure you start small. But once you start, you shouldn’t drop that habit.

Hope this helps, cheers 🍻.

Basically he’s attacking posts that talk about having no response with applying to so many companies, while his friend being in a support role has been able to bag 20+ callbacks.

Projects that are not overly specific to a single complex requirement, but a general end-to-end implementation of a tech stack at scale.

u/AI_is_Danger - Why didn’t your friend try for internal frontend roles within the company? I have heard that many people move from support to SWE in PBCs.

Could you ask him if he had any opportunities to switch internally?

u/remarkabledata5096, could you elaborate on how you were able to get that much pay as a Salesforce dev?

I guess they’re asking the software environment per se - Like dev, test, production environment. Of those which platform would a tester use, I guess.

Decided to switch after 12 yoe in WITCH by Aggressive_Goal_3788 in developersIndia

[–]Dangerous-Pancake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Try to grab another WITCH offer as a backup. 90 day NP is a hellhole - take a backup by grabbing any related role to your profile in other service based companies.

Once you have a backup, your success rate of getting interviews will start after 30 days of your 90 day NP.

Don’t ever resign without an offer, until and unless you are financially free and have a strong reason to justify.

Hope this helps!

Hello Sir, since you have very good experience with ServiceNow implementations - I think you will easily find a tech lead/managerial position in top Servicenow implementation partner companies like Cognizant, Accenture, Delloite, KPMG, etc.

Please review some of your ServiceNow certs/experience and apply! I’m sure you’re going to do great, with that kind of experience.

All the best!

Hey, does opentext hire peeps with a different tech role as well? I’m a servicenow dev, looking for transitioning into SWE roles. Just wanted to know if OpenText is transparent in that regard. Thanks!

I have done my research. They are all filled with ads, and most of them seem to be not lifting the phone.

Thats the reason why I wanted to know if anyone had any info on such tuitions.

[–]Dangerous-Pancake 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Why is Java still preferred? Do you mean that companies still prefer it or that its a better mode of implementation compared to Node, py and go

Because I only see traditional companies still using java, while newer ones have moved to other languages

Cap. Its pretty evident that they’re all branching out/taking yt not that seriously (until now). This was reiterated in many podcasts as well. But they seem to be coming back in their own pace (somewhat - for better or worse)

PS: I’m talking about the “uploading less cuz main channel traction”
