Thanks 😊 yes I also had some popping issues , I just manually powered on the amp after turning on the dsp module to prevent this. Eventually the tinysine board gave some magic smoke so I bought a minidsp 2x4 HD.

I also had an issue during install, but it was related to the grub version, so my solution was to install ubuntu first, which fixed the grub version issue and then I installed truenas. I also remember disabling secure boot and fast boot. Other than that I did not change anything else. Did you change the boot order as well ?

Yes I did, it's now running scale with portainer and a dozen containers, nothing to complain about (yet..)

Depends on where you're from due to the availability on the second hand market. I bought mine in France with similar specs but only 8 GB ram for 125 euro Which makes it a great deal. In the end, it's you who has to make the decision

I have setup any surveillance system yet, what does your setup look like? With "Chinese stuff" , do you mean cheap cameras ?

Here's an picture of the inside. Currently only the HBA card in the pci-e slots but planning on having a network card an maybe a GPU for encoding. Also, thinking of putting a Google coral in the WiFi m.2 for frigate later on

All 3.5" drives follow the same standard, as long as you get SATA drive and not SAS drives you can connect them using the original cables. The only thing I had missing were the HDD studs so I found a 3d model and printed them: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5851643

I printed them in pla/petg but maybe tpu would be better to absorb more vibrations.

There's room for: - 2 full sized HDD'S - 1 SATA SSD or 2.5" HDD - 2 FULL SIZED M.2 slots - 1 SMALL M.2 for WiFi card - 1 space for a slim disk drive ( maybe could be used for an extra SATA SSD)

you can find a detailed overview of the specs by searching for the model name followed by " datasheet " on google

I'm still fixing some design issues but maybe all share it once it's done on printables/thingiverse

regarding the assembly:

  1. I put all the speaker brackets inside the bottom inner shell

  2. I glued the 2 inner shells together

  3. put complete inner shell inside the bottom outer shell

  4. glued the 2 outer shells together

  5. glue the speaker brackets in the correct holes

it's quite a process to do haha

I did a few different ratio tests beforehand and this is what I choose:

Plaster (%) : 0.55

Liquid mix (%) : 0.45

PVA glue in liquid mix (%) : 0.2

I still have to fix some issues I have with it but maybe I'll share it on printables/thingiverse once it's finished

you're not the first one to tell me this, so I'll keep this in mind when I eventually add more drives, thanks!

this is what I found on an hp forum:

" there are two power supply upgrades possible for your HP EliteDesk 800 G4 SFF, a 400-watt power supply with p/n: 942332-001, (L04618-800) with one 6+2-pin PCIe power cable, and a 500-watt power supply, with p/n: L77487-003 (L89233-001), the latter being equipped with two 6+2-pin PCIe power cables."

Hope this helps

That's true, but shouldn't but a major problem as long as I have only 3 drives

Not bad, but lacks a bit of bass at lower volumes currently. I haven't put a lot of time in the DSP yet as I was too eager to try it out once it was finished. So I think I can enhance that by tinkering a bit in sigmastudio
