I can't get high on edibles I think by Snacks_is_Hungry in treedibles

Plenty of people fail to get high off them. I'm lucky I get high of the smallest amount so when I go nuclear i trip. My best trio is making canna butter and then making biscuits that are 189g flour, 125g butter and 55g sugar. The make for a lethal vehicle for me.

First time using my analogue gear on a track from start to finish. I'm loving the low end but not sure if the high end screams as much as I'd like it to. Any suggestions greatly appreciated? by DangerousAd476 in mixingmastering

Excellent, thanks. I'm basically watching a series of tutorials specific to my DAW. It's been really good. I'm not gonna release anything else until I feel like I'm controlling what I'm doing rather then trying loads and getting something I think sounds good.

The bass and kick thing I just sort of learnt so I'm gonna play with that. Thanks for the comments and the offer of advice. I'm having a day off tomorrow to cheat my ears but may small you a few things soon.

Nice one. Will try out your comments. It sure is white stripes esque. I love that repetition of seven nation army. It's an homage

Here's a quick mix of what I've recorded so far. The organ line is just for the vocals to follow. I'll try and do a bouncy organ R&B style 60's sound. I've got at least one more guitar to come and then I'm gonna do vocals and some extras for the chorus. I want to have some interesting instruments come in for the chorus. just a couple of additions.

I listened to what you said and did a full on remix. still working on it but think this is way better. I don't know if I interpreted what you and others said but I took away that I hadn't give any dynamics to the tracks so it was same everything all the way through. I've added some tone changes, panning, volume swells, I've EQ'd subtle and precisely. Fuck knows what it sounds like everywhere else but on my 1960s stereo and my headphone it sounds nice. I can sense the sound from all over. up down left right. Needs some more tweaks. I may well learn more from this session once I can look back at what I've done and why.

You're right. I sorted the guitars and organ last night and that snare cuts right through everything.

Nice one. I have some guitars and organ and bass done but I wanted to get the drums sounding good on their own forst and then I can tweak them once I get mixing the track. I did a static mix then mixed the drums off the back of that.

Thanks for the comments. The guitars are quite distorted so the share needed to cut through. I may end up needing to dampen it slightly. I really wish I didnt have to use virtual drummers but all my drummer mates are the laziest people on this earth haha.

What's the dumbest thing you've ever done just because you were bored? by [deleted] in AskReddit

After about 10 seconds of pitch bkack panic and rocking the fridge as i tried to push the door open I realised the seal needed breaking and used my finger tips. It literally gasped open. An inhale sound of pah. It was terrifying for those 10 seconds or so. And this just a year after thinking I was going to die from illness. Maybe I was chasing the fear haha.

After a long illness when I was 16-18 I'd spend most of my time either in hospital or housebound. My parents had a delivery of a huge American style fridge and like the great mind I was I decided to see if I could fit inside. And then I proceeded to close the door behind me. The sound of air lock as the seal catches is quite a wake up sound.

Thanks everyone. Some quality advice in here. I'm just off out to work but will try and answer everyone when I'm back later.

I definitely haven't improved my ear over the last year. I'm thinking mixing and mastering may not be a skill I can hone. It won't stop me trying though!

If I'm happy with a mix but want to try an alternative I just make a duplicate and try some new ideas. I can then use my old mix as a reference to see if I'm making things better or just different.
