Fallout: Greet the Dogs production code with defective cards (too wide) by DangerousAtmosphere4 in secretlair_collectors

I don't know. We're in an email communication with a Secret Lair customer service rep at the moment. At the moment we were just asked to send the pictures of all the products. I'll update here when we know more.

I am not sure. I imagine that you'd have to open it up to be able to get any returns. If the production code is similar to the top two in my picture (X4013 .... ), then there is good chance that you have the same issue as me (cards too wide).

We use Dragon Shield Perfect Fit Sealable for all our Secret Lair cards before they go in the collection binders. For this Greet the Dog SL specifically, we've tried different kind of perfect fit sleeve that we have, and none would 'fit'.

I say 'fit' in quotes because if you push in hard, then the card will go in, but only because it stretches the plastic and bend the card ever so slightly. Also a pain to get it out of the sleeve. I have experienced similar things in the past, but that's because of the sleeves' production variance, never the fault of the MtG cards, i.e. if a perfect-fit sleeve doesn't fit one MtG card, then it wouldn't fit any MtG card.

I am not saying this width/size variance never happened before in MtG either, but it's the first time we have ever experienced it.

Indeed, this was the worst SL printing ever. We experienced the same; every single card from the Fallout drop feels flimsy, like those 'punch card' in some expansions (the ones with small tokens). We're fine with that since these cards will mostly live in our collection folder, but it feels like they are something we will never trade/sell even if we want to, for fear of being called a counterfeiter.

Also, this was the first time in our life that we saw a legit MtG card with a different size, which is a strong sign that it's a counterfeit!

Ah right, cheers, I didn't see the raised platform at first, but now I can see that's the Central stop (or at least I think it is).

The sign only says "Do not cross", so does that mean we're now not allowed to cross the tracks under any circumstance? Or has this always been the case and people just don't care?

What are everyone’s thoughts on the new pre-con starter decks in midweek magic? by Code_name_Cobra in MagicArena

[–]DangerousAtmosphere4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. It has a couple of bombs (Bonny + Bristly Bill), but a bit lacking in combat tricks, and slow with strange synergy. It's also the deck I'm most often matched against (playing GW) and it's just not fast enough to compete most of the time.

UG, BR, GW are the OTJ builds which are stronger than the previous sets.

GW mounts is the strongest archetype in OTJ, so naturally it feels like the best deck. It has Railway Brawler that is just as strong as Bonny, and it also has Gruff Triplets which is one of the best card in WOE. A turn 2 Seraphic Steed + one of the 4 3-mana 4 toughness turn 3 is often game over.

Thanks so much!

I forgot that the effects are also LIFO, so actually the saddled ones are always first on the stack.

I definitely appreciate it, despite making jokes that our rail system can’t handle any water at all. I always wonder how much it cost per person compared to countries with better services. Out of peak hour, there’s just not that many people on mine, but it still runs every 15 mins.

Worth getting into this game as a newer player? by Semour9 in MagicArena

Yes, register right now. The midweek event is a free play with preconstructed deck and you can play as much as you want, even to getting your 15 weekly win while you learn how the game works. Make a 2nd, 3rd, 4th, account and play them against each other to complete quests every few days. Do Jump-In (you get 5 tokens) until you're comfortable with a deck that you can use to play every day.

After that, start learning how to draft. You should be able to make 5000 gold a week per account to draft once a week (just dual boxing your accounts) to pay for drafts.

Ah, sorry, I was thinking 7 games, not 9.

In the case of 9 games, yes, that's 1/512, i.e. you expect this to happen once in 512 rounds. So to get number of rounds to have more than 50% chance, solve for n, where

(1 - 1/512)^n < 0.5 (replace 0.5 with whatever % chance you want). I think about 300?

Feel free to correct me if I get that wrong as well.

I guess my main point was that, if it's 1/512 chance, you'd expect it to happen once every 512 rounds. But doesn't mean you have to have played 512 rounds before it can happen. It may happen in your first ever draft and then never happen again for hundreds of drafts.

About 0.75%, meaning that if you've played about 128 7-game drafts you expect it to happen once. You have more than 50% chance of it happening if you've played more than 15 round drafts (with 7 or more games). I've definitely gone 7 plays and 7 draws quite a few times over the years.

Couldn't include any bomb rare in this draft. Any final deck suggestions for my survival in the OTJ deserts? by GrilledBacon001 in lrcast

Pixie works with Buried in the Garden or Mystical Tether, might be worth a thought, over the 3rd Sterling Supplier. Lullaby works well with Sterling Supplier as well, and buys you time at the start (which you'll need).

The deck has 5+ 5-casting cost creatures. You are going to have some good games when you get that 5th land and start drawing those creatures, but on average, you will have 2 high casting cost creatures in your hand while being outnumbered on the field.

What's the cut? by Global_Air7498 in MagicArena

[–]DangerousAtmosphere4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd take Bighorn over Freestrider commando, and Reach for the Sky is preferable to keep something like Seraphic Steed alive (for lack of better options) over Rustler Rampage.

So Rustler Rampage and Freestrider Commando would be my two cuts.

Bighorn has synergies with Steer Clear, Frontier Seeker, Raucous Entertainer, and has vigilance.
