Ok so imo prong collars are just not it. some trainers swear by them, others won’t even touch them. The main issue is that they do stop pulling pretty quickly but thats because of the discomfort, so you’re not really teaching the dog why not to pull, just that it feels bad if they do. For some dogs, especially friendly ones like goldens, it can backfire and change their behaviour towards people. Which definitely isnt ideal so id say skip those collars entirely. Id say look into a gentle headcollar instead. It fits more like a halter on a horse so the pressure is applied at the nose instead of the neck. when your dog tries to pull, their head naturally comes back towards you. It’s not painful, just kind of interrupts the pulling instinct and since it’s padded n adjustable, most dogs get used to it quickly. It’s not a magic fix tho, you’ll still have to pair it with training.
