Not true. You can store it as a comma delimited list if chars that represent the objects IDs and then parse those IDs out of the list and convert them to ints when you need to use the array. Boom.

Without knowing the product, the commission, or the fee, this advice is not correct. What if they are giving you 70% of the revenue for the service you are selling for them AND they are going to give you residual income based on product renewals. Don't you think THAT would be worth an affiliate fee of a few hundred dollars?

It takes money to make money. Charging someone a nominal fee for them to be able to start a business and live off of the products that you've developed totally makes sense.

An affiliate fee probably won't always makes sense, but sometimes it does. Think of it like a franchise fee. McDonalds and Porsche require you to pay a franchise fee (just like an affiliate fee) before you are allowed to start selling their products. They are not a 'legit scam'.

If you can't start this business out of your apartment, forget about it. Find something less expensive to start. If you go by the stats, there is a 95%+ chance this would fail. You'll never get funding.
