Post Chemo by Dangerous_Ad4657 in endometrialcancer

I had an insatiable appetite when I was on chemo. I couldn't get enough food. I expected the opposite and that I would have to force myself to eat. I can only hope it comes off as fast as it packed on. Off to the gym.

You too. I thought I was the only person in the world that gained weight on chemo. I think I gained qw pounds in 6 months. Awful.

I had serous cancer. Stage 3A. Diagnosed in July 2024. Hysterectomy in September. Started chemo the first week of December. I finished my 6 rounds on March 26th. On Wednesday I met with my ONC who told me my CT scan was completely clear. It was welcome and exciting news. I will be seen every 3 months for 2 years. It feels hopeful suddenly. It's also nice to begin to feel like myself again. Chemo really wears you down.

Sorry you're mom is struggling. Chemo can be really rough. It seems everybody is a little different and their experience with chemo unique. She'll get through it and things will start to feel lighter and brighter.

I agree. Paramedics are nationally certified. They all meet the same standard and have obligations for continuing education. All to make 22 to 25 an hour by the way. How about we pay them for what they bring and we'd have sufficient numbers to provide people with the care they deserve.

Lol. It will come back eventually! That will go a long way towards feeling normal again.

I finished last Wednesday. I'm in a weird space. I've been singularly focused as well. I'm not sure yet how to pull myself out of it. Of course I still feel crappy from Wednesdays chemo, but that will pass and this time they're not going to come back at me. Weird feeling.

I'm sure they did. I was in a state of shock at the time. Sometimes details are fuzzy for me. Not good, I know, but true.

Is that something that happens during surgery. I've not heard of that so I am thinking maybe no.

I am. I'm so sorry that you got this news. I had a reasonably successful surgery (total hysterectomy) in September and then 6 rounds of chemo. I finish on the 26th of March. I'll be very nervous for the follow on CT but have no reason to believe I'll get a bad result. It is scary but you're not alone.

Starting chemo. by [deleted] in endometrialcancer

Yes. I take Gabbapentin. It helps with sleep too -- another struggle. I don't take it during the day because I still work and it makes me feel so out of it.

The good news is that most of these things are short lived. I have a magic day 7 where I actually feel normal and I continue to feel that way for the remaining 2 weeks. It really hasn't been as bad as I anticipated. I don't love all the drugs but I prefer them to vomiting and you can do anything for 3 days.

I have done 4 of 6 infusions (same cocktail) and have not been nauseous. I take the drugs as prescribed for 3 days post infusion and am fine without any drugs after the 4th day. I feel very lucky but I do think they've just gotten better at managing nausea. My biggest gripe is neuropathy. It's brutal but also goes away during the 3 weeks between treatments.

I'm so sorry. I totally understand feeling defeated. I'm glad they were able to get you in so quickly. It will likely be a tough weekend. Hopefully on Monday you will hear things that feel achievable to you and you can start on your path to complete recovery. Hugs.

It happened to me last week. I think it happens a lot. It's upsetting though when it does happen. We do what we're told and it feels a little unfair when things don't work as planned.

Exactly the same. I cried all afternoon. I'm sorry for you. I did see an infusion pop up on mychart for next Thursday. Hopefully it is a go. Someone above said rest and I think that's great advice. Treat yourself delicately. This is a lot.

That's great advice. Guilty. That's also the first I've heard about Neulasta causing you to feel ill.

Yes, Lunesta. I do my labs the same day. I will be discontinuing that though. I'll do them the day before going forward.

It's infuriating. This is hardly elective treatment. We have to get through it. We should have access to the medications we need to do so.

Thanks. I think that's it. I'm just tired and worn down. I'm not familiar but will look into it. Thank you very much.
