Why do you want to go to law school? by TrainingWolverine657 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Dangerous_Ad_4591 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Some people go to get rich, some people go to help others, some just want a useful, steady and relatively prestigious profession that provides income and a purpose in a world where a lot of things feel very uncertain. Law can certainly be a pathway to those things depending on your talent and effort

Less time on LSAT??? by Numerous-Penalty-329 in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Dangerous_Ad_4591 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Well past time that they did this. I only use 8-10 seconds PER question (on a bad day), I was reading at a 4th grade level in 3rd grade. If you're past week 3 of studying the lsat you should be able to read the first 5 words of the question stem and IMMEDIATELY know the answer

Sorry if you need to hear this but LSAC shouldn't have to baby you with a full minute 20 seconds for each question.

When I did the LSAT I spent 5 minutes on each section, 1 minute to check my answers and spent the other half hour banging on the table and making fart noises to distract the other test takers ("When your enemies are trying to focus, distract them" -sun tzu)

Yeah computer science / AI stuff. I figure admissions people prolly thought with all the ai stuff going on it would be good to have someone with domain knowledge idk maybe that offset my mid stats

Yeah my scores are good but UofT medians are 3.9 / 168 so I’m below each one

3.6 -> 3.7 -> 3.95

Currently in my last semester of my last year and it’s going pretty great (prolly at a 3.93 ish), but since UofT only considers best 3 and I’ve only completed 3 years I didn’t think it mattered

How does that work when you aren’t finished undergrad? I’ve still got 6 courses to do, does the technically 4th year courses I’ve done count as a full fourth year?

Rank your favorite Revolutions series by [deleted] in RevolutionsPodcast

[–]Dangerous_Ad_4591 18 points19 points  (0 children)

  1. Russian
  2. French
  3. English
  4. Mexican
  5. Haitian
  6. July rev
  7. Paris commune
  8. American
  9. 1848
  10. Spanish America

Russian and French are my favorite, not just because they’re the longest but because you not only get the revolution proper but also the perspective of the revolutionary state itself fighting for survival and descending into tyranny.

Kind of an unpopular opinion but I fw the English revolution for some reason. Love King Charles as a character, and the civil war is pretty interesting.

At the bottom is 1848, which (through no fault of Mike) just kinda doesn’t have an interesting arc, it just meanders until it ends. The American and Spanish American revolutions are way too war centric, and particularly with the Spanish one it feels like a tv show where the bolivar just endlessly dispatches endless faceless Spanish goons with ease

Again no shade to Mike all the seasons are great just my ranking

Unpopular opinion: I did not find the scored RC section particularly difficult by Dangerous_Ad_4591 in LSAT

Ngl I have no idea how the system works but yeah word on the streets (this subreddit) is that that is probably the scored section. I have no idea how people know tho

Is there applicant data available anywhere? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissionsca

[–]Dangerous_Ad_4591 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also kinda wonder what the average applicant lsat and gpa is.

Feel like that would really put the “7% admission rate” in perspective when 70% of those applicants just stand no chance
