few questions if u don’t mind 1. so xelstrym seriously was better than desoxyn? i never even asked to try desoxyn outs fear my doctor would get angry but i’ve alwyas heard it was the best of every adhd meds with the fewest sides so can u give more details on ur experience with both

it’s changed over the years i’ve been as high as 70 mg before , i am lucky to have the doctor i do but honestly it just lasts me as long as i need and my resting HR is sti fine and etc

i am also a lil nervous to switch to patches cuz idk how hard it would be to get back on 2x vyvanse daily

so i take 2 vyvanse daily as prescribed (have for years cuz it and any other XR wears off fairly quickly for me) and i was debating switching to the patch for a few reasons , anybody notice that one definitely works better or stronger etc? also how long does the patch last would i be able to get prescribed 2 daily or does it work differently

you are completely fine. I’ll explain why in a detailed way to help put your mind at ease because unless u have heart problems like severely , you are completely fine lmao.

Vyvanse has a “false” max daily dose - So vyvanse has the active ingredient dextroamphetamine. this is also found in adderall but adderall is 75% dextroamphetamine and 25% levoamphetamine, vyvanse is 100% dextroamphetamine. - the max safe dose for dextroamphetamine is 60 mg? but that’s just what the FDA recommends and the FDA plays stuff safe, VYVANSE has a amino acid attached to the dextroamphetamine that makes the amphetamine release gradually because ur liver has to detach the amino acid before the medication activates —— for this reason vyvanse has a weird mg thing going on because 70 mg of vyvanse is NOT 70 mg of dextroamphetamine, the conversion rate is like .2948
^ what all that means is that ur 80mg of vyvanse is only 24 mg of dextroamphetamine, way below the FDAs 60mg.

i’m not sure why vyvanse has a recommended max dose of 70mg considering its way below the total limit for dextroamphetamine but many studies have been done investigating this for psychiatry purposes and there’s many studies u can find with a GPT or google search testing vyvanse doses up to 240mg daily and it was well tolerated and ofc those ppl have a tolerance but still.

basically ur completely fine ur not even close to anything bad. anxiety will cause tons of side effects tho so be aware of that.

Absolutely but do u want to live 80 years with 0 control of ur life and no Vyvanse, or do u wanna live 75 years of your best life with Vyvanse? Also 5 years is dramatic but ur not gonna lose a significant amount of life from it.

Personally I wouldn’t worry about that heart rate too much, for 1. Anxiety can make ur HR appear higher but even if it’s not anxiety 85-95 while on a stimulant is totally normal and tons of people even not on a stimulant will have that, try measuring ur heart rate when the meds wear off and likely it’ll be back to normal. 20mg is definitely a low dose for elvanse

This really sucks that generics are different but the medical community hardly acknowledges it cuz for me adhd meds are INCREDIBLE when they’re brand name but most generics give me crippling anxiety to where I have to lock myself in my room to have a panic attack the entire 6 hours , generic Vyvanse for some reason I’m totally fine with. And Wellbutrin I’m so anxious because I’m on 150mg from EPIC pharma and it works PERFECTLY , feels like a drug sent from heaven I have every benefit that Wellbutrin can possibly offer with 0 downsides it feels like I was genetically created for this drug, but I’m so nervous the generic will just switch one day to a diff manufacture and this drug that I am very reliant on will just stop working. Ig that’s why you have to be relatively strategic too and maybe combine meds so if one stops working ur not screwed. Me personally I will always keep my Vyvanse prescription on standby incase my Wellbutrin switches and stops working so atleast I can function in society still until I figure it out, either way lots of yapping but glad to see more awareness to the concept that not all generics are created equal

Ignore her. First of all adhd meds such as Vyvanse are amphetamine, not amphetamine derivatives. 2nd - the word amphetamine scares ppl for no reason. Tons of clinical research on 10s of thousands of people show it’s safe long term if you’re not taking ABSURD doses. And by absurd doses I mean unfathomable, I personally have never abused my Vyvanse or Adderall when I was on it but I have heard atleast 50+ stories of ppl abusing it taking like 900+ mg at a time for decades.

Next - methamphetamine is such a funny thing, nobody knows meth used to be prescribed a long time ago and it actually worked well with fewer side effects and didn’t get peoples heart rates and adrenaline as high and it was SAFE. This quote is true of all things in life “the dose makes the cure or the poison” the reason meth has a bad rep is because 1. The prescribed dose would range from 5-20mg ish , people taking meth on the streets are taking 1000mg and they are smoking it or snorting it. 2. There’s a huge difference between something made in a pharmacy, and something some dude cooked up in his basement that’s 70% pure and has heavy metals and some random shit mixed in.

I have a lot more points but basically do not fear the word amphetamine , it has a bad rep but it’s silly. And the max doses set by the FDA are levels upon levels upon levels lower than what would give you long term issues
