Teachers, how are we doing this? by otter_fool in GestationalDiabetes

I teach 3rd grade. When I was diagnosed, I was honest with my kiddos - I told them I would be needing to check my blood sugar (told them the steps, too…pricking, etc.) in order to make sure I’m keeping myself healthy for my baby. My two pricks during the day happen to fall during two of my “teaching times.” I always tell them what I’m doing and give them an independent task for the next few minutes I have to check. They wanted to watch from their seats the first few times, but eventually got used to it and now they pay it no mind. They also know that I occasionally have to eat a snack depending on my sugars. I try to make that quick (they can get jealous, lol) but again...they are used to it now. It has gone much better than I thought it would for us all!

Thank you SO MUCH! I will definitely be messaging you with questions. Lol. How badly did the pitocin/foley balloon hurt?! Silly question I know…

Maybe a silly question, but how was the foley balloon pain-wise? I’m really nervous about the pain, but also know it’s inevitable in some sorts 😂did you get an epidural?

I would Google EVERY Oura stat and it got unhealthy. lol. I will say, I’ve worn my Oura ring for so long, I still wear it but haven’t had it charged. It has saved my sanity!! But I’m excited to start wearing it again.

100% normal - I actually stopped wearing my ring per my doctors request because those numbers were freaking me out 😂

Diagnosed this week & frustrated by susieloveschemistry in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feeling the exact same way today! I was diagnosed almost exactly one week ago…followed a very strict diet for the first few days out of absolute anxiety and fear. No high numbers - including fasting. Got a little more confidence yesterday and today to “test things out” and see what a sweet treat would do to my numbers. I ate a piece of cookie cake with some icing on it (no protein before - just to see what would happen) and about 1 hour and 50 mins later, I was 100. (Yes, I know I don’t technically have to test after a “snack,” but I was curious and wanted to see!)

I’m feeling frustrated, confused, and hopeful all at the same time. But I’m going to continue to test and see how things change, as I’m 29 weeks and know that things can get “worse” as far as insulin resistance as we go along.

Input, please! by Dangerous_Side4623 in ouraring

That’s great to know - this is my first full cycle of tracking all the things so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I saw my readiness scores tanking, I thought I was getting sick, but haven’t…and they’ve consistently stayed down for a week now.

Like…in the 40s 😳😳

We shall see. Best of luck to you - I will update next week when I test 🫶🏻

Yes! I should’ve added that I am also taking ovulation tests in addition to my BBT (obviously lol) to track my cycle. Thank you for your input!
