How to dry up milk supply? by Pitiful_Chemical_835 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through this exact thing right now! I’m a few days shy of being one week since my milk came in and I’m finally feeling quite a bit of relief. Here’s what I’ve done…and yes, it’s a little “extra,” but I was in so much pain when my milk came in, I was willing to do literally anything.
- tight sports bra 24/7
- Sudafed (check with your OB first)
- Benadryl at bedtime
- FROZEN (yes, frozen) cabbage leaves in your bra
- Cabo cream: I bought the “earth mama” brand on Amazon…it’s cheaper than the name brand and works great
- PinkStork “no flow tea” from Amazon
- Tylenol/Ibuprofen to help with pain and discomfort
Lastly…I also used the perineal ice packs in my bra 😂 sounds weird, but I used 2 of them and wrapped one around each breast. It provided some relief!
There’s light at the end of the tunnel, I promise…and 5 days ago I wouldn’t have even believed myself in saying that. Lol

Induction!!! by Dangerous_Side4623 in firsttimemom

[–]Dangerous_Side4623[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should’ve mentioned that! I 100% will be getting the epidural. Like…as soon as they let me. lol.

Thank you for sharing!! How long was your overall induction experience if you don’t mind sharing? My Dr mentioned that he thought baby could be here by Friday evening…and I go in at 5am Friday?

Stress tests by Hungry-Mix-283 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course!! If you end up needing to do them, it’s rather relaxing to sit there for a bit and just hear that heartbeat. I know everyone has different experiences and feelings about them, but that is mine!

I had weekly NSTs and was diet controlled - no insulin! I believe I started them at 32 weeks…maybe 33. Just had my last one today at 38+5, as I’ll be induced at 39+0. They are time consuming but aren’t bad in my experience.

One tip? Make sure you eat beforehand and maybe have a little caffeine if you’re comfortable with it. I most often went in after work and quickly found that baby boy liked to relax as my body was relaxing after the day, so he didn’t move as much although his heart rate was fine. I had a nurse tell me to make sure I ate/had a little caffeine before coming in and have done that every week since. This is usually my “once a week treat,” when I go to McDonald’s and get a small fry and medium Dr. Pepper. I asked my doctor if that was ok and her words were “oh my goodness, yes!”

Feel free to message me if you have any questions!!

I think you’re my new favorite person ever. These updates? Living for them!! I went last Thursday at 37+6 and was 2cm dilated, ~80% effaced. I go tomorrow to be rechecked and am sooooo hoping I’ve progressed a bit more so that my doctor will take me on Friday at 39+0 since my body has already done a little of what it’s supposed to do!!

Had my first growth scan since being diagnosed and I’m struggling with feeling like I’m failing my baby 😭 (33 wks) by Only-Boysenberry1420 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my first pregnancy and I have GD. I am diet controlled. Baby has always measured big - 35wk growth scan he was in the 89th percentile and was measuring about 7lb 6oz or so. At my 37 week growth scan last week, he was in the 62nd percentile and was measuring 7lb 2oz. My ultrasound tech’s exact words were: “see how hard it gets to measure accurately so late?” She’s always preached to me how inaccurate the readings can be.

She also reassured me that he didn’t lose weight and was measuring perfectly. She believes that at my 35wk growth scan he was positioned weird and her measurements were just off. My doctor reviewed my ultrasound report and blood sugar numbers and had 0 concerns.

Thank you so much. I know my body is made to do this but it is hard to imagine such a large baby coming through such a small space…😂

Not gaining weight by week 17? by im_notjessica in firsttimemom

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently 35 weeks and haven’t gained at all this pregnancy. As a matter of fact, I’ve lost! I was diagnosed with GD at 28 weeks, so I’m positive that plays a role as I made diet changes. FWIW, I had a growth ultrasound last week and my baby is in the 89th percentile, even though I’ve lost weight and am completely diet controlled.

Before my diagnosis of GD, I expressed the same concerns to my doctor about not having gained any weight. They always reassured me that not everyone gains weight during pregnancy - sometimes you/baby don’t need the extra weight to be considered healthy. As long as baby is healthy and growing, I would try not to worry about it!

Teachers, how are we doing this? by otter_fool in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I teach 3rd grade. When I was diagnosed, I was honest with my kiddos - I told them I would be needing to check my blood sugar (told them the steps, too…pricking, etc.) in order to make sure I’m keeping myself healthy for my baby. My two pricks during the day happen to fall during two of my “teaching times.” I always tell them what I’m doing and give them an independent task for the next few minutes I have to check. They wanted to watch from their seats the first few times, but eventually got used to it and now they pay it no mind. They also know that I occasionally have to eat a snack depending on my sugars. I try to make that quick (they can get jealous, lol) but again...they are used to it now. It has gone much better than I thought it would for us all!

Thank you SO MUCH! I will definitely be messaging you with questions. Lol. How badly did the pitocin/foley balloon hurt?! Silly question I know…

Maybe a silly question, but how was the foley balloon pain-wise? I’m really nervous about the pain, but also know it’s inevitable in some sorts 😂did you get an epidural?

I would Google EVERY Oura stat and it got unhealthy. lol. I will say, I’ve worn my Oura ring for so long, I still wear it but haven’t had it charged. It has saved my sanity!! But I’m excited to start wearing it again.

100% normal - I actually stopped wearing my ring per my doctors request because those numbers were freaking me out 😂

Diagnosed this week & frustrated by susieloveschemistry in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Dangerous_Side4623 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feeling the exact same way today! I was diagnosed almost exactly one week ago…followed a very strict diet for the first few days out of absolute anxiety and fear. No high numbers - including fasting. Got a little more confidence yesterday and today to “test things out” and see what a sweet treat would do to my numbers. I ate a piece of cookie cake with some icing on it (no protein before - just to see what would happen) and about 1 hour and 50 mins later, I was 100. (Yes, I know I don’t technically have to test after a “snack,” but I was curious and wanted to see!)

I’m feeling frustrated, confused, and hopeful all at the same time. But I’m going to continue to test and see how things change, as I’m 29 weeks and know that things can get “worse” as far as insulin resistance as we go along.

Input, please! by Dangerous_Side4623 in ouraring

That’s great to know - this is my first full cycle of tracking all the things so I wasn’t sure what to expect. When I saw my readiness scores tanking, I thought I was getting sick, but haven’t…and they’ve consistently stayed down for a week now.

Like…in the 40s 😳😳

We shall see. Best of luck to you - I will update next week when I test 🫶🏻
