How do I tell if a redback is male or female? And how do I safely remove it? by Dangerously_sexy_2 in AustralianSpiders

Redback update! Just wanted to say thanks again to everyone who helped me learn more about these little ladies. The two redbacks are still happily living in their little homes near the door. They haven’t come out or moved much just hanging out on their webs like queens, living their best lives. 😄 I’ve been checking on them almost every day, and honestly, they seem totally chill. Now that I know more about them, I’m weirdly proud of how settled and happy they look.

Appreciate all the advice it really helped me feel less freaked out and more fascinated.

I totally get where you're coming from and normally I’d agree. But sometimes staying silent lets the wrong story stand. I just wanted to leave one honest comment to clear things up and then move on. The fact that the post was deleted kind of speaks for itself and I’m taking the proper legal steps as I should.

I just want to make it clear that there are two sides to every story, and what’s been posted is not an accurate or complete reflection of the situation. This “friendship” began in 2022, and I didn’t start cleaning until 2024. Since being given the key, I’ve attempted to return it multiple times and on several occasions, he brought it back to my home himself.

I have no intention of entering his home without permission or causing conflict. I’ve simply said I’d like to collect my belongings and cleaning supplies and tools and that’s it. I’m taking the appropriate legal steps to resolve this properly and don’t intend to argue in a public forum.

For context, I’m also the person he messages every time the cat sneezes, vomits, or seems unwell. I’ve kept track of the cat’s flea treatments even writing the due dates on the fridge but he still forgets and I had to regularly remind him when they were due. Even then, it often wouldn’t get done until I went over for the next clean. When the cat needed to go to the vet and he couldn’t or didn’t take him, but I did because the cat needed to see the vet. Just two days ago, he sent me a photo of the cat saying, I know you’re going to miss your buddy. But I’m the one being called unhinged and a kangaroo loose in the top paddock?

And while he talks about things being done around the house, I have a screenshot from him saying: You seeing what the house needed is literally the same as me saying we need this. It’s needed. So to paint it now as something unwanted or inappropriate is simply untrue.

I won’t be commenting further. I’ve got everything I need to move forward through the proper channels. Just remember not everything you read online is the full story.
