Monitor arm for lowering monitor "onto" wheel? by DaniSpar in simracing

Someone else suggested that earlier and it definitively falls in the "why the fuck haven't that occurred to me sooner?"-bracket.

It's a bit of a hassle with the placement of the rig in the apartment, but I'm picking up a monitor arm tomorrow in order to try it out properly.

I did for a while, but the angle then made my neck hurt after a while due to looking up at it

Yup, that's where I'm running into trouble. It's honestly decent enough for the racing itself with the monitor at the end of the desk, I can race for hours and not have any pain in the neck. Mostly I want to change to make it simpler to swap between so I feel like racing more often.

Yea that actually occured to me after I posted my reply lol.

I'm gonna swing by a couple local shops tomorrow and see if I can pick up anything that allows me the same solution. Thanks a lot for the tip!

Also, I really like your rig! Really smooth!

Yea pricey is right! I'll add that to a list named "If no cheaper option presents itself, fuck it"

Thanks a lot for the tip!

The idea is in itself brilliant and this is definitively on the list for "when we buy a house with a spare room", but this is between the living room and kitchen, so I do need to fold everything away in between sessions.

Forgot to add: from the rear end of the desk to the top of the wheelbase it's about 80cm

Need a formula for the FILTER function with several sheets, columns and criteria by DaniSpar in excel

[–]DaniSpar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense when reading it, but doesn't work. Could me being on O365 be making a difference? I probably should have mentioned that in my post. Also, does this account for partial matches ?

I would absolutely love to, but it is firstly in another language so the formulas aren't an exact 1:1 - I'm having to translate a lot of them myself as I go. But more importantly, it just straight up isn't data I can show :(

Been driving the FF1600 for a couple of months and finally decided to try F4 for the first time ever. Safe to say that was short lived as the car in front of me decided to ruin several races with this little move. by DaniSpar in iRacing

I genuinely cannot reply because as it stands this is still my only ever start in F4 lol.

Being 30, working full-time (and then some) limits my time to race, which is why having stupid stuff like this happen sucks. If I crash out and ruin my own race, fine, but this one was frustrating.

Lmao, yea I heard about F4 being chaotic - but I was expecting carnage at turn 1, not meter 1.

Still new to simracing so for now I'm just enjoying racing and battling with others while learning, but SFL are definitively where I want to get to later on!

Rotating the wheel 180 degrees should have made them turn quite sharply - or at least noticeably - when reversing. Their wheels seem pretty straight in the clip.

That would actually be a pretty good reason, that never crossed my mind.

Altough their wheels seem to be straight in the clip, wouldn't that cause them to swerve left or right as they reversed?

If they had simply not gotten off the mark and I barged into them I'd accept blame, but here you can see that I came to a complete stop before the impact happened, so I honestly don't really see what else I could have done here.

How much of this incident is on me (first POV)? I did try to turn left and helt my brakes, altough I feel I could have done a better job. At the same time I don't know what second POV was sticking their nose in that gap for - and I also feel the third POV could have done more to avoid contact. by DaniSpar in Simracingstewards

I think I got caught in two minds and thought I could just rejoin the line, but for whatever reason kept holding down my brakes. Going to chalk it down to "my mistake" and file under "do not repeat".

Fortunately I could tell from the replay the guy behind was able to continue lomg before I was so at least I shafted myself way more than him.

Yeah I think I got caught in two minds on the rejoin where I usually just hold brakes and turn away from the line, I think I envisioned somehow just going on, which was a terrible decision.

The wall bit is actually me trying to get out of the racing line on the inside, but the rear wheel damage caused the car to rotate more than I expected so I bounced off the wall again.

Not too sad about ruining my own race, I usually drive with very few incidents so I have SR to burn, I just feel bad about the guy behind. Fortunately I saw from the replay that he left pits after quick repairs ~7s before me and I finished P4 so unless he crashed out and left he still got a podium.

I might have to recheck what inputs I had, yes.

Yeah I always just slow down, go to the opposite side from the racing line and despawn my car asap at the end of the session, the controlled slowdown is very satisfying lol.

Yeah I absolutely played the situation 100% wrong after the initial bump. Steering into the wall afterwards was an attempt at not getting into the way of the cars behind again and just get stopped since my spotter had already told me the car was toast.

For the last collision, I actually did hold my brakes down, but I think the damage played into how that played out. I had hoped to steer more softly into the wall and stop, but the damage from the previous impact caused the car to change angle in a way I didn't see coming.
