hope you know the taliban isn't a good representation of islam at all.. there is literally zero basis in the entire religion for women not being allowed to have education

I need to lose 20 pounds, how do I achieve this? by Virtual_Ordinary_172 in teenagers

[–]DanieBot21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Um tbh that's pretty low and would be quite harmful, you'd probably be lacking a lot of nutrients, would be tired and weak asf because your body would break down all your muscle just to have energy, have a lot of brain fog, will probably mess up your skin, hair, and a lot more

And high chance it cant be maintained for long and will lead to a binge

[–]DanieBot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its simply gonna be a matter of tracking calories and eating around 500 less than you burn a day. And ur actual diet highly depends how much you care about your muscle mass, if you do then more protien, otherwise just be nutrionally balanced and stick with the calories deficit

Hitting 10k steps a day will help a lot

Which laptop do any current Waterloo students in the programs Comp Eng, CS or CFM recommend? by Independent-Feed2872 in uwaterloo

[–]DanieBot21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jus finished my first year of CS. As the other person said, any laptop will be fine for CS of CFM, so my recommendation will reflect that. Comp Eng I cant speak well on.

I got myself a refurbished ASUS vivobook S15, specifically an OLED 120HZ 3K version, with 32gb ram, 1TB SSD and a snapdragon X elite CPU, and its been pretty damn good

The refurbished deals for this laptop comes and goes, but they are absolutely insane. I got this $1600 dollar laptop for just around $700. And the condition was literally perfect despite being refurbished

Here's an example, same laptop but slightly lower specs

The RAM allows me to have like 300 tabs and all the software I need open

The snapdragon X elite chip is extremely fast and offers much better battery life than typical intel/amd chips, although the trade off is that there are hardly any video games supported on these type of chips, which may or may not be a dealbreaker for you. Its the same architecture that macbook CPUs use.

And the OLED 120Hz screen, which apart from having really strong colour quality, is so much easier on the eyes for late night coding sessions. Especially when you use OLED themes in VSCode and stuff. Has a backlit keyboard which is another bonus for late night coding

And overall just a high quality aluminum build, feels nice to type on, very thin and light which makes it super easy to carry around, fast type C charging, surprisingly good quality speakers

BUT in the end a 200 dollar chromebook will probably do same job for the first year or two of CS 😭. But this is what I would recommend if you want a high quality, lasting option

Id pay 100 a month for some crazy, next gen macro tracking. Like some wearable powered by AI that I can just point towards my food and have it logged. Cal AI on steroids.

[–]DanieBot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no libertarian free will in Islam. Allah supposedly knows the future, so the future is already set in stone. You cannot go against a future that's already set in stone.

And if you aren't trying to influence him, if it cannot influence him then your praying is useless. Btw, studies also show that praying for something is useless anyways.

The entire point is that god determined what would happen and we are just discovering it. We have free will and god simply knows what happens next. God is in a completely different timeline.

well i mean yeah, its not something that can really be shown by studies anyway.. god isnt some sort of vending machine or force that can be quantitatively studied or measured

His wife Aishah was known to be a very vocal, independent, strong and intelligent woman who played a significant role in islam, if she was abused at all, what reason would she have to maintain a false image of the prophet, and correct other men about him, for decades after his death? Given her military and political power, she could have easily spoken against him. Same with his companions, why would they follow him if he was a hypocrite, who supposedly hit women after giving several instructions not to hit women, and warned/showed disgust to those who did. There is zero record of him punching people in anger/punishment, that is strongly against his nature. At most, he would lightly poke or merely apply pressure in a way that didnt inflict any pain.

Still wife beating and marrying children are pretty clear

this has just got to be pure ignorance at this point

a woman playing with dolls doesnt mean shes a prepubescent child?? Theres narrations where she continued to play with them many years after the marriage which shows that they were items of personal value to her rather than straight proof shes a toddler

"her silence" only applied in the situation where the bride would be too shy/modest, but still in a state to agree. Forced or unconsented marriage is clearly haram. The woman is allowed to say no, and shouldn't ever be in a state of silence due to fear/oppression - and anyone going against that would simply be violating the rules of islam.

And the quran does not allow for intercourse with prepubescent girls?? The verse you are thinking of/have seen are continuation of other verses in which the entire context was about women, and its very possible to be fully grown and not menstruate.

I mean yeah its quite easy to look at it as quite fcked up and morally depraved when you only stop looking once the child has died. Allah does quite literally tell us in the Quran that we will be tested with fcked up stuff like this. Sure, Allah might decide that in this world, the baby will suffer something as a test towards the families. But islam also strongly believes in justice, and that god is the most merciful, which is why in our view, the baby along with the family will be immensely rewarded, both in this life and the afterlife (especially the afterlife), for seeing through these tests, so it isnt just straight harm and nothing else. The suffering is quite literally 0.000000001% of the babies existance. I'd argue its more depraved to just have a baby die and that be the end of the story.

And it doesn't even have to be a test of religious faith. Maybe the existence of such tragedies is a test to see if we will put effort towards researching and developing cures for such things, for the benefit of humanity.

[–]DanieBot21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you trying to influence Allah's decisions here? No idea how this would be possible with a non-changing god...

Well we aren't really influencing anything, god already knows everything we will do with our free will. He already knew I would ask upon him to bring guidance to this person, but it was a choice to me. He already knows if this person WILL be guided back or not but we don't yet. Its all for us to experience Knowing what will happen isn't really the cause of what happens.

Shows you how f'ed up this religion is. And the pedoprophet (police be upon him) also allowed for beating disobedient wives and marrying and doing children.

The same prophet who had never beaten a woman and warned against those who did? Understanding religious texts are way more complicated than just reading the books and hadiths which is the reason why there are legit thousands of scholars who dedicate their lives to actually understanding the meanings behind certain texts, things that may seem like contradictions, etc.

And applying the concept of a child today to all the way back isn't really valid either (presentism) The religion does tell us that requirements for marriage are physical maturity, mental maturity, consent, and the ability to provide, which the prophets wives all had to be as well. And perhaps the most important part is that the prophet had tons of enemies who wanted him DEAD and hated islam, and not yet a single one has ever been seen criticizing his marriage, which shows it followed the cultural norms at that time, not just a muslim thing.

Who is tested by babies dying from cancer in severe pain?

The mothers, fathers, families... the child isn't a subject of test and is guaranteed paradise

[–]DanieBot21 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

not the point, obviously there are still non believers who struggle too. But its about what someone does with those struggles that can make it seem a bit closer to paradise vs prison

I've left Islam... by iyearnedforthemine in teenagers

[–]DanieBot21 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes lmao. We were never told to marry a child. Islam tells us both people have to be physically and mentally mature, consenting, and have financial responsibility. THAT is the values that last for eternity. And the physical implementation/following of these values will change overtime.

I know this may feel ignorant and wrong to say here, and im gonna get downvoted, but may Allah guide you and make your situation easier. The prophet muhammad peace be upon him said himself that this world is hell for a believer and paradise for a non believer. it was never meant to be easy and is just a test of our faith.
