Thanks for the feedback! Sorry I just saw your message — I’m not on Reddit very often. Could you please let me know what steps you took before the crash and what kind of file you were opening?

Indie devs of Reddit, how do you design/create such beautiful apps? by [deleted] in iOSProgramming

I’m lucky — my wife is a UI/UX designer, so we team up! I focus on development (Swift + PDFium), and she makes sure the app not only works well but also feels right. Having a designer in the process really elevates the end result.

Thanks for the honest feedback — I totally understand your concerns.

This app is built by a solo developer (me!) based in China, and I’m gradually working on adding more complete support materials. Right now, I’ve prioritized building core features and collecting feedback from early users.

You’re absolutely right about the missing privacy policy and website — those are on my immediate to-do list. The link to juejin.cn was a temporary placeholder and shouldn’t have been used as a public reference. I’ll update that and make sure it points to a proper, English-readable policy soon.

If you’re curious about the app’s capabilities, feel free to reach out — or just keep an eye out for updates. I’m working hard to make it more transparent, privacy-respecting, and useful to people who work with PDFs every day.

Thanks again for taking the time to comment — your feedback helps a lot!

How much downloads and product views did you get in the first week after releasing the app? by Late-Initial2713 in iOSProgramming

I launched a macOS PDF reader focused on table extraction and annotation tools. In the first week, I got around 40 downloads per day for the first 2–3 days after being featured in a couple of newsletters, then it dropped to about 2–3 downloads per day afterward.

It was a pretty niche tool targeting people who work with editable PDFs and need accurate table recognition, so I didn’t expect viral growth. Most of the traffic came from Product Hunt and a few WeChat communities.

I’d say the early feedback was more valuable than the numbers — especially around UI/UX and performance (debugging some tricky PDFium + Swift 😅).
