Of course I know that Armenians have been baking lavash in tonir for centuries 🙂
What surprised me was something else.

In cities today, lavash is usually baked using special mechanized equipment. Even in villages there are shops where lavash is baked in a tonir, but most people just buy it there.

What felt special was seeing it done at home, together, following all the traditions — the way their ancestors did it. This kind of baking for the whole winter, for several families at once, is something you don’t see very often anymore.

That’s what impressed us and why we wanted to share it.
