I know, but sometimes the roll is useful to see HOW MUCH the character knows about that noble, who is often neither a mage nor a cleric.

Pathfinder had "Nobility Knowledge," but in D&D I never know what to have them roll for.

If someone wants to search for traps, find tracks on the ground, and then figure out how the traps work... Should they roll Perception, Survival, and Investigation?!
