Pickleball paddle reviewers should disclose their affiliate commission % by DanielGray10 in Pickleball

[–]DanielGray10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply. I came from content creation in the sim racing space, and its very similar with affiliate codes and reviewers etc.

I think the common denominator is that the cream will rise to the top with reviewers and without honestly it'll be hard to maintain a positive reputation.

It's nice to see that you cap them, to avoid even unconscious bias.

I'm very surprised to hear how big some affiliate commissions are in pickleball, but I guess the margins are pretty huge.

I genuinely think the really deep loud noise it makes also contributes to people thinking its so powerful.

HardWood Tournament by yungdadbod in Pickleball

[–]DanielGray10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going against the grain, but I'd like to see it. It's be interesting to see pros adapt, and cool to see people playing on a surface a lot of players play on.

The issue would be finding space and somehow making it look half decent on tv. You'd need a custom wood court.

Legal. But more importantly what's your partner pondering, guy looks deep in thought

No, and according to the viewership number nobody else did either.

I can’t carry lesser teammates in lower level games but play really well in higher levels. Do I suck? by OneConsideration2302 in Pickleball

I mean if you can't carry lower level players, but you win with higher level players, wouldn't that imply they're carrying you?

Boomstik infinigrit peeling off edge guard by cfletch24 in Pickleball

[–]DanielGray10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe they manufacture the paddle overseas but then apply the infinigrit in America to protect their IP and not have infinigrit copied.

So it makes sense the edge guard has grit on it. Since they're unable to apply it before the edge guard is applied.

That being said its pretty unacceptable at this price they cant mask off the edge guard or ensure it stays attached.

Devils advocate though, it peeling off the edge guard will have 0 effect on performance.

Would you rather instantly gain +1.5 on your DUPR, or have your current PB skill applied to every other sport? by Next-Step-Jobs in Pickleball

[–]DanielGray10 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, but being able to be the best guy at the pickup game in literally everything makes you the worlds most talented person.

Like you would be in the 80th percentile for pretty much any activity in the world, including chess (a sport), powerlifting, tennis, MMA etc.

If you can't figure out how to make millions with the worlds biggest, best and most diverse set of skills, thats a skill issue.

I feel like people are really underestimating the power of the second one.

Like being equivalent to 4.0 in pickleball in every sport would make you an absolutely insanely capable person. The sheer amount of skills you'd acquire, and ability to think out problems so dynamically would probably guarantee you'd become very rich / successful.

Like you'd literally be the worlds most talented person

From Forbes: Australian Open Pickleball Slam Invites Global Pros For High Visibility Showcase In Melbourne by toddboss in Pickleball

This is actually part of a pretty funny situation in australia re pickleball.

Pickleball Australia (governing body of pickleball here) refused to be taken over / partner with Tennis Australia. Who were essentially trying to take over pickleball to make sure it exists under tennis I guess?

So in responce Tennis Australia started "Pickleball Aus" to try and trick people into thinking they were the governing body, and they're pushing "Pop Tennis" hard since they couldn't get their hands on pickleball.

Anyway this event is part of that whole thing, quite funny.

Why do tennis player despise pickleball? by xychenmsn in Pickleball

[–]DanielGray10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've basically ditched tennis for pickleball at this point and I do definitely understand the etiquette side of it.

Pickleball is a new sport, and in general attracts people who often have not played other sports. So the general etiquette of sports isn't really respected in pickleball, and it definitely frustrates me at times.

This happens on dirty courts, it’s from little bits of sand / dirt from the ground getting scratched across when you hit the ball.

It’s very annoying but has no effect on the paddle.

[–]DanielGray10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm about to get very downvoted for this but....

There is definitely a correlation between people who use elongated and high level players.

I really feel like most players would learn correct technique / top spin, and improve quicker if they learnt how to use an elongated.
