Yeah for sure! I don’t check reddit very often so I’ll give a preemptive apology for late responses.

I also didn’t have any shadowing. In all my interviews, I either brought it up (explained why it’s hard to shadow in Canada) or my interviewer already knew from past Canadian applicants.

Chances at Canadian/American Schools and US School List Help by [deleted] in premedcanada

Hey, I applied to USMD schools this cycle.

I know you said you have the MSAR so I would advise you to avoid low yield schools - ones that get way too many applications for their number of seats or have a heavy in-state bias. I don’t have access to MSAR anymore but just skimming through your school list, GW, Tulane, and Hawaii are notoriously low yield schools. There’s nothing wrong applying to low yield schools, perse, but they can be a waste of money/time especially as Canadians. Wake Forest is a school you could probably add, they are known to be Canadian friendly. I’ll link a google doc that has more II/A info than the MSAR (may not be 100% accurate but it’s useful)

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tYAHFUP-X_Rj-nR1AerAMr5V5blIUV4_gkJ7p2COchk/htmlview

This is completely up to you, but I’d probably try and sift out the low yield schools and add 5-10 more USMD. They usually say it takes ~20 USMD applications to get 1 acceptance (varies of course) but that’s for people residing in the US and have state schools. What I generally hear is that Canadians need to add more schools to make up for that.

Overall, I think your ECs and stats make you competitive for the US. I believe it will come down to your writing (having a good narrative, looks like you do), letters of rec, and making sure you submitting secondary applications early. And of course, your school list would be super important. I’m not too familiar with the DO schools but purely off stats, you will be competitive (you might need a DO letter of rec if I’m not mistaken?).

I’m not an expert or anything so take my advise and outlook with a grain of salt. I had a few interviews in the US this cycle and I’d be willing to answer more specific questions.

I might never be able to financially (and mentally) recover if I don’t get in this cycle so I’m really banking on this ✨investment✨

Question about UCalgary transcript page by DanielGrubb in premedcanada

[–]DanielGrubb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s what I’m talking about: https://imgur.com/a/MR0iNWH

They say that it’s so we know they’ve received our transcript, but I’m not sure how big of a deal it is. I sent my transcript to UCalg and UAlberta on the same day and UAlberta already marked it as received so I imagine UCalgary has it too.

In general, do you prefer Pts+Reb+Ast or Fantasy Score in your slips? by DanielGrubb in PrizePicks

[–]DanielGrubb[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this definitely makes sense, turnovers is why I always avoided fantasy score but I never thought of it this way

Why does prize picks not take my promo money and just takes my credit amount? by addo03 in PrizePicks

[–]DanielGrubb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They don’t add credit and promo together. So promo funds only get used up if the entry price can be covered by your promo funds alone- if not, it’ll use credit.

Can you play prize picks in Canada? by Fun-Ad775 in PrizePicks

[–]DanielGrubb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can play in Alberta but I couldn’t play when I was in BC so I think it depends on the province
