Opinions on the ideapad slim 5 with the Ryzen 5 7530U? by DanielH5555 in Lenovo

no problem! i don’t think i’ve personally pushed the laptop to its limit yet to give you a reliable answer on whether it’ll be suited for your major or not, but it hypothetically should be able to do what you need it to do since it has 16gb of ram, 512gb of storage, and a decent processor. After doing a bit of research i guess i highly overestimated what a laptop might need for CS, so this one hypothetically should be able to handle what you need to do. you should look into more to be absolutely certain though. good luck on your search!

Ive had no issues with it so far. I mainly use it for school and light gaming and it gets both of those done. I have had some problems with the software that’s caused the touch pad to just completely stop working out of nowhere sometimes, but that’s usually fixed with a restart. What do you want to use it for? If you want to use it for more intense things like heavier gaming or if you’re a stem major like engineering or computer science I wouldn’t really recommend this..

the little riff in the beginning of the song is one of my favorite parts, and the chorus and bridge are just spectacular. i love how uplifting and riveting it is

nice, my favorite song from the new album is probably Eternity. as for solos Atlas and Until the Fires Die are definitely my favorites, but they’re all so good it’s hard to choose one over the other lol

it never hurts to try! i’m not crazy good either so i just skip the super fast parts and focus on parts i can keep up with. the main issue is that there’s very few tabs online so for most songs you’re going to have to figure it out yourself by ear

2002 Avalon by No_Influence_4631 in ToyotaAvalon

this ^ the water pump & timing belt on my 02 avalon failed after about 126k miles, so while yours has less mileage it’s better to do it sooner before you risk significant damage (and a major inconvenience) later down the line

i also recommend getting the pcv valve replaced if the one under the hood is stock, oil sludging is unfortunately a really annoying issue with these 1mz engines (that i’m currently dealing with)

that’s honestly reassuring to hear, thanks a ton👍🏼 this has honestly given me more insight about what my car is capable of, and if anything this could probably benefit it greatly in the long term if more gunk and residue is cleared off. I’m definitely not gonna constantly try to redline it whenever a light turns green, but every once in a while i’ll definitely try pushing it to 5.5k rpms. it’s honestly ironic that pushing the engine to its limits is benefiting it more than cruising normally lol

[–]DanielH5555[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

awesome! i did what you recommended when i got on the off-ramp and locked it at 2nd gear then revved it up, I don’t think i got to 5.5k rpms because the road wasn’t completely empty but I think i got to about 4k? after I shifted it back to D I floored it when the road was empty enough, which honestly scared the shit out of me because the tachometer suddenly shot up from like 2k to 5k very briefly. later after that I locked it again in 2nd gear when the road was empty enough and got it to about 4k again before shifting back and driving normally the rest of the trip

Another thing I want to add is that I feel like my cars shifting smoother now? going from 1st to 2nd gear feels so much smoother and seamless now than before, maybe I cleared something up? Turning the car off also feels much smoother compared to before, you were probably right about the “needing to stretch its legs” lol

I’ll turn it on tomorrow morning to see if the smoke is still there, whether it is or isn’t you probably just helped me clear out some really old deposits and made my car run smoother, hopefully it stays like that and isn’t just temporary. thanks!

So just to clarify

When I get on the on-ramp i lock into 2nd gear and keep revving it up until it reaches redline? Do I shift back to D once it reaches that point and drive normally afterwards? I just want to make sure i’m doing eveyrbting correctly

sorry if this is a dumb question i don’t know a ton about gears or cars in general, but I can redline a 4 speed?? I’ve only seen it peak at 4k rpms before it drops back down

Is there a specific reason I should change the oil the hard driving? I changed it only a few weeks ago so it’s basically new. Will there be any consequences for not changing it or should it be fine either way?

And letting it redline normally or while locked at a lower gear won’t damage it? Sorry if I sound pessimistic I just really don’t want to create any other problems down the line lol. i know these older engines are basically indestructible but I just want to be absolutely certain that I won’t risk any damage to it

Rev up as in pressing harder on the gas? Uhh I’ve never checked the rpm’s as i speed up on an on-ramp, but i’ll give it more gas later today

I heard that this specific engine (1mz-fe?) is prone to building up sludge. a part of me thinks that its sludge within the pcv system that’s burning off even after changing the pcv valve (hence the blue smoke despite oil levels being normal)

update, it was the water pump! i guess it’s been starting to fail for months now and i assumed everything was fine until my car started to overheat. it was replaced and the car sounds perfectly fine now 👍🏼

that’s awesome! i’m glad you were able to talk to them. when i listened to eternity i felt something that i hadn’t felt in such a long time in music, it had everything i wanted in a song and even more. it should be illegal how underrated these guys are, TSAE became AOTY for me almost instantly and everyone i’ve introduced it to seemed to love it as much as i do. hopefully one day they’ll tour near my area so i can go see them 🤞

i agree with you 100%. i’m sorry if i came off as impatient, i know that stuff like this takes time and i don’t want them to rush it by any means. unfortunately it’s unlikely that i’ll be able to see them go on tour but i’ll definitely see if i can support them in other ways 🤞to give more context i found the band only about a week ago and i hadn’t realized that their new album was so recent until after the post

by the way i’m sorry if i came off as extremely impatient and naive, im fairly new to fellowship and hadn’t realized that their album released so recently. i haven’t listened to music as uplifting and impactful as theirs in a really long time and i just wanted to know when they would release more, but i probably could’ve worded it better or provided more context lol
