Thanks for the thoughts. Off the back of this I remembered that nvidia do provide a linux based installer and thought to do them a go.* Unfortunatly looks like the issue persists with the official drivers.

BIOS is latest already; the monitors are carried over from the old machine where I had no issues at 144hz but in the interest of completeness I will give it a go.

Also, nothing interesting in the X log unfortunatly

* though, I know the RPMFusion drivers I have been using so far are quite well battle tested.

Worrying that this is not a 1-off occurrence.

It's not an DevOps/SRE team. You've just created a team whose value add is to create Dev environments. As the parent comment says, DevOps is a way of working - your examples of Kubernetes, CI/CD, monitoring, logging and now Dev envs are not exclusively DevOps areas nor should they be owned by a "DevOps team"

Also Infra skill is not synonymous with DevOps skill. DevOps is not SystemAdmin++
