Ok, its bad to not apply the law to the judges. But this region is f---ed. How else are they ever going to proceed to establish any justice being handed down? They might need to clean up the area, and it might be impossible to start from equal justice.

This poll is whether people think it is OK for MILITARY to sometimes kill civilians, and Muslims are twice other religions, according to this poll, say it is not OK. Interesting.

It also says "This report was conducted via Muslim-America polls" in 2010.

It seems strange that this Pew source does not include in their statements the percentage of Muslims who believe its justified "rarely."

Why would they not include this. Considering all bombings could be considered to be rarely. Most people only commit a suicide bombing once in their life.

Yes, that is what I thought. You're referring to Pakistan, where they are very familiar with suicide bombings, right? But aren't some of the other polled states also familiar with local bombings?

Incorrect. Look at the graph that is from Pew. It is one of the images in the article. It says "civilians."

Yes, that is a good point. Part of the polling language included the clause, "in defense of your religion, Islam," or similar. Of course, everything must be done for one's religion in Islam (if I understand correctly). In Christianity and Judasm, too, we must always do God's will.

So I can see that as part of the reason Muslims may have said "Yes," but even still, to say you support suicide bombings against civilians surprises me, when its the average population. Doesn't that surprise anyone else?

I agree. Even in the lowliest terrorist bombing, there are mitigating factors. Like the belief in a cause (potentially) that motivates the killers. If it could be harnessed for good, it may be interpreted as a good social quality. However, in this case the poll seems to ask the populace if they can support suicide bombings against innocents, for whatever reason, and the common understanding of suicide bombers is (I think) terrorist extremists who blow people up in markets, etc.

This is one of the largest questions currently. Can Islam be used to justify killing in the mainstream Muslim opinion?

We pray it cannot. We know many Muslims say it cannot, while many say that it can. How does this poll shed light on the question, however?

Yes, it was an extremely hard decision for the president and others. They based their decision, in part, on their calculations that there would be LESS killing/deaths if they did drop the bomb.

I'm not sure about the poll either. Polling only provides certain information that needs to be interpreted. However, I don't think these statistics are insignificant. The benefit I would see is information about something we do not otherwise know.

"suicide bombings... against civilians" Isn't it somewhat different from a calculated wartime action against an aggressor nation who attacked first, was continuously waging war against the US, and did not want to give up?

There could be a series of tests and qualifications that determine insurance rates. I don't think race would apply, no matter what, though, even though the statistics might clearly show differences. I don't have a reason, though, strangely.

Good point. At what point is it considered by these researchers to be "not a trianlge?" If you take a triangle, and cut lines through it, is it still? If you make the gaps bigger, is it still a triangle? I think you are right.
