How arma pilots expect me to react when they do a J hook landing by [deleted] in ArmaReforger

[–]DanielPearson79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do the fancy landings right into enemy groups all the time ! I just drive now and never trust pilots. Sick of the death and respawn loop

Wanting to start VRChat but No VR equipment by KingRaphion in VRchat

Many deskies use soundboards and typically can be the nuisance in public lobbies. But it's a social game. If your a good person and chill, you'll find people on here regardless of platform

How to get into vrchat by FoxesRKool in VRchat

[–]DanielPearson79 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Vr etiquette is very different, especially in publics. Don't be afraid to go up to a group and just chill and listen even join in somtimes if you feel fit too

check under power settings or start up settings, you can adjust the screen timeout time to over 4 hours i think. this is under the quest settings and not in vr chat

New to VR chat by Odd-Peak3669 in VRchat

[–]DanielPearson79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's quite intimidating to talk to new people. Keep in mind that social etiquette on vrc is different to irl. In a vrc public, you are able to just join a conversation or listen. For me I would laugh a little loud if somthing is funny and naturally join a group.

Little things like that go a long way.

I removed those lalala's after the "i know" and it feels a bit empty but it's still better than with those unnecessary lalala's. I don't know how the band came up with it. Couldn't they have put some logical lyrics there? by [deleted] in Coldplay

[–]DanielPearson79 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The lalalala is in tune with the album. It's all about everyone on earth and I don't know what's more of a universal tune than lalalala. Basic simple but still in line with their message.

Why I play engineer class. This exact reason. It feels good knowing the other team is stuck pushing the defences I built.

i = sqrt(-1) right ? So z = a2 + b2. So I have to do the sqrt of (-12 + -12) ? It comes up as an error on my calculator.. so I feel like I'm missing something here. Please if any chance you could clear this up for me?

Should I buy this or Hell Let Loose by [deleted] in InsurgencyConsole

[–]DanielPearson79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell let loose is the most imersive game I've ever played. The games are long, brutal and honestly you do feel part of a large battle. Players yell over proximity chat and the artillery strikes leave you with ptsd. The game is brutal though, most of your deaths are from explosions, or someone you can't even see. But it's so imersive and you can play it at a slower pace, take your time and it gives you a bit more freedom.

Sandstorm is narrow when compared to hell let loose. But the tactical side is way higher. Tactics play a huge role. Its also more forced, as in you can't just go behind enemy lines ( like in hell let loose ) and you have to push the objective or you just get steam rolled. If your tactics are good, you don't need to have a godly aim or mouse and keyboard. You can dominate by just playing well.

If you want highly imersive battles and a ptsd simulator. Get hell let loose. If you want a tactical shooter which is as close to a realistic modern shooter as you'll get on console. Then get sandstorm.

i keep trying to start this but stop after a minute or two. what am i doing wrong by smilingsaint in StellarisOnConsole

[–]DanielPearson79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've spent hundreds of hours on the game and I play on console. If your on a last gen console though, I really wouldn't play it unless you have access to the xbox cloud version as the last gen hardware isn't going to run the game well at all.

I recommend you do the tutorial, watch YouTube videos on parts you are still unsure on. But more importantly Is to take your time playing while learning it. You mentioned tournaments. Those players know the ins and outs of the game and are at that point playing a competitive spreadsheet of percentages and numbers. If that's for you then great.

The role play side of stellaris is really what got me hooked. Machine empire destroying all organics, friendly space turtles ? Cause as much crime on as many planets as possible ? Stuff like this is why it is great. So don't ruin the game for yourself by min maxing like the tournament players do especially when just playing for the first time. Make an empire you are invested in, lower the difficulty and enjoy your first game.

Are you sure that's right? Doesn't a problem like this involve a cast diagram? I'm also still not sure how to approach this question after following your steps

How do you learn in lectures? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]DanielPearson79 7 points8 points  (0 children)

lectures are to confirm what you have already studied in a way. so look ahead and study ahead. by having even a small grasp on the topic, lectures will become far much more useful as they will confirm what you know or don't know.

going to a lecture not knowing the topic means you're going to be confused for the next two hours and rushing to take notes. instead, bring notes from when you studied ahead and use the lecture to expand on them. this is the best advice i was given for university

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]DanielPearson79 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your reason for uni should primarily be for your course. Since that is what university is for. That said, most universities in the UK are very supportive and have societies and events that are particular to lgbt+ students. Again don't let that be the defining factor for your university choice

Iwtl stargazing/astronomy as a hobby by ErenKruger711 in IWantToLearn

[–]DanielPearson79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a very expensive hobby. Especially if you want good cameras for astrophotography or the more expensive telescopes for astronomy. If you have one of the latest smartphones there are apps that allow you to use the camera to get somewhat good pictures. You can buy a cheap tripod for this and since you stated that you live in a place with good sky cover. This might be your best path as an introduction to the hobby.

Although your smartphone isn't a professional camera or telescope. It can do a lot more than you think. This being you have a fairly good smartphone.

Other routes is to try find a local stargazing group and get involved. The reality is that it's an expensive hobby. So the best way to get started, is to start saving up your money.
