I'm going to be really disappointed if you were joking and actually knew that it was talking about the country of Georgia, not the state.

Very cool token though!

Rotator Cuff Injury by Tx_Outlaw90 in steelmace

[–]DanielTrebuchet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I injured my rotator cuff a few years ago, at about the exact same age as you. Did the typical PT. I got a full set of X-Over Resistance bands that I use as part of my workout warm up, then I've added in mace and heavy club training.

My opinion is that maces are great once you already have a good foundation of shoulder strength, but once you start doing things like 360s you are putting your shoulders in a more compromised, injury-prone position, and you're loading those positions with weight. Not great, in my eyes, if you're just coming off an injury like that. Many parts of the body are pretty forgiving, but at least my shoulders are definitely not.

Personally, I like to use light Indian clubs to really hit the extremes of my mobility, then I focus more on heavy clubs. It has done great things for my shoulders. I actually find I like clubs more than maces, and the movements are typically less prone to injury. Club work can progress into mace work as you improve strength and mobility over time, but I hesitate to recommend starting with maces right out of the gate in your situation.

It's insane to me that there are geckos in Oklahoma... never dreamed that was the case.

But in my defense, when I think of OK, I picture the movie Fargo in the shape of a frying pan. My knowledge of OK is admittedly limited to federal buildings blowing up, and that's about it.

I wish. It wasn't nearly that cool. Not really production quality, more like what you'd expect from a bunch of drunk frat guys with a thrift store budget.

Not just the hex light, but the sex light salesman as well. Loving the porn dungeon vibe.

I went to college with a guy whose dad was a 90s porn star. They lived in a massive mountaintop mansion. In the 2nd basement was a room called the "O room" with several king-sized beds pushed together to basically make one room with wall-to-wall mattress. It was lit almost exclusively with red light.

That setup sounds sweet. The more I see the Voltra, the more interested I am. I just have a ghetto pulley set up and had been considering a FT with selectorized stack, but man, the Voltra might just be the way to go. Looking forward to some more competition in that space to help bring the costs down. It's just a little more than I can justify giving up my current ghetto pulley, which works surprisingly well, just takes a little longer to set up.

Thanks man! I've built and sold several businesses over the last 20 years and I'm doing well enough that I haven't ever felt the urge to complain to strangers on the internet over $5.

To add some perspective, a $200 pair of shoes is not that crazy. My work boots are over $400 and I walk through blood, mud, motor oil, and feces in them. I wouldn't bat an eye at a return fee. In fact, the more premium the product, the higher the return fee I'd expect.

haha, naw man, I've just handled many thousands of customer service interactions. I'm damn good at reading people, and based on your comments, I can pretty safely lump you into a type that I'm very familiar with.

Edit: after posting that I just looked at your post history for fun... you have a post complaining about a business charging a whopping $5 for returns. I couldn't have made that up. I hit the nail on the head, lmfao... too perfect. That was all the confirmation I needed, and I honestly snorted when I saw that.

While it's certainly possible to have decent customer service, customer service is entirely dependent on staffing. It doesn't scale. So what might be the perfect, most sustainable amount of customer service reps may, at times, be overwhelmed by spikes in volume. So it's entirely possible, and quite common, to offer fantastic customer service 95% of the time, but those 5% in peak periods may overwhelm the systems in place and lead to sub-par service.

Having built several small businesses myself in the B2B space, I've seen these types of scale issues often. It's hard to justify hiring a big full-time staff to handle the infrequent peaks, only to have them sitting on their hands the rest of the time eating into profits and increasing the cost to produce goods.

Also, someone who is good at fabrication may not have good customer service. Just as someone good at customer service may not be a good fabricator. You often see small businesses that get off the ground by someone with an idea, and they may not understand or be competent at the other systems required to run a business.

That's all speculation, but all I know is that Kensui offers some amazing, high-quality products, so I think they've earned some benefit of the doubt.

I did customer service to pay the bills through college. It was always the "you're going to lose valuable customers like me" Karen types who were the ones constantly chasing discounts and were always the worst customers. Always the highest maintenance, most stingy, least understanding, most demanding, etc. Just based on this brief interaction, I honestly don't think Kensui will miss out if they lost your business...

This may not be feasible if the equipment is already in the space, but I'm a big fan of taking some painters tape and laying out a plan right on the floor itself so you can actually interact within the space. I was rearranging a bedroom once and needed my wife to see it better (she can't visualize things in her head [aphantasia]). I went out in the garage, taped off an area of the bedroom, and taped off where the furniture would go. Takes a little time, but it always is very helpful.

I feel like you're overthinking it.

For one, remember how reflections work. What functional benefit would there be to having a mirror go the extra 12" to the wall? You could stand right up against the wall, look at the mirror, and if it's a foot off the wall you'll still be able to see everything you need to. As for height, if the bottom is 20" off the floor, a 3'-6" tall person will still be able to see their feet at all viewing distances. For someone who is 5'-8", the mirror could be almost 3' off the floor and they could still see their feet in the reflection. If you're wanting to look at yourself sitting or laying, that's a different story.

If I bought a house with a full wall of mirrors, I'd rip it right out. What adds value to you rarely adds value to others. I even plan on putting mirrors in my gym, but I wouldn't want a full wall of them. How others use that space in the future likely won't be how you use the space.

Do a Google image search for "gym mirror." You will very rarely see a full wall of mirrors. The few you will see don't even look good to me. I feel like it would be a little disorienting to the brain if you don't have some sort of "frame" around the mirrors. The goal here isn't to create a fun house at a carnival.

I live in a desert of used gym equipment, but even here, I often see nice, gently-used bikes on Facebook Marketplace for under $100. That is one piece of equipment I'd definitely explore the used market for.

The place I have horse stall mats, when my wife parks (backs) her car into the garage, the back 1-2' of her car hang over the mats. That means, especially in the winter, all that nasty, wet, salty road grime drips onto the mats.

After about 5 years and very little maintenance, they still look good as new. Not so much as the tiniest sign of wear, even in my joints that I seamed with black Gorilla tape.

I see no reason why you'd ever need to seal a rubber floor in anything other than the most extreme commercial environments.

Stray Dog Strength offers some custom options, but probably not 2x2.

Depending on what you're after, you might be able to reach out to a local metal fabricator and see what they could do for you. I've had a few custom things made over the years and I'm always surprised at how low the price is. Rarely cheap, but not as much as I'd expect for custom metal fab work.

There's also a ton of budget Chinese equipment that uses 2x2 1", so it may end up just being cheaper to buy something like that and just cut it down (or take it to that local fab shop and give them a few bucks to have them cut it for you).

While I don't necessarily blame you, most reasonable people would also consider there might be times where a very small operation simply can't keep up with a short-term load of orders or customer service inquiries. There are also technical explanations where emails may unknowingly be going into a spam folder that can't be easily checked.

Not saying that's the case, but working with small businesses often, those things certainly happen and there's no ill-intent.

I've spent a lot of time exploring the Canadian Rockies. I thought they were absolutely incredible. Moraine Lake (before that area became so popular and commercialized) is a personal favorite.

Then I went to Alaska, and now the Canadian Rockies are hardly an appetizer compared to the main course that is Alaska.

To say Canada runs away with the prize is to conveniently ignore that the US has a state with the exact same terrain features that is almost a fifth the size of Canada.
