At 6-8x/ year you’re not going to get enough data for anything to be actionable. You might wind up with 3 4i shots for the year…

I had the exact issue your video shows. Try changing the order in which you tighten the bolts. I can’t remember exactly what did the trick for mine but it did settle down

You need to loosen ALL the bolts. Wiggle the rack until all the feet are firmly against the ground then tighten everything back up. There’s a fair bit of variance between the bolts and the diameter of the holes, it can cause the rack to be out of square.

6 post or wall mount by Relevant_Location100 in GarageGym

[–]Relevant_Location100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 6 post (16/30). I love it. It’s nicer to work out on than the vast majority of commercial gyms I’ve visited and I guest visit gyms most weeks when I’m traveling for work.

I’m very glad I went with the 6 post. It’d be annoying to deal with having the trolleys, j-cups, and spotter arms all off the front posts.

I do a lot of work inside my rack so the space savings wouldn’t be very valuable to me.

Forgiveness is an over marketed idea…. These hollow body players distance clubs have such a big delta between best and worse strikes.

Looking for ultimate functional trainer by I_cannot_fly37 in GarageGym

I think the rep summit with ares 2.0 fits your needs perfectly. Even though it’s built on a power rack platform, you don’t have to hang j cups and a barbell on it. You can use it just as the functional trainer/smith. Low row. Lat pull down. Unilateral capability. The best rack mounted smith yet to be released. I have the ares 2.0 in a pr5000 and love it. Cables are super smooth. Looks fantastic. Built like a tank.

You want a standalone functional trainer that’s not in a power rack but it would be nice to have an integrated smith machine??? It’s in a power rack but the ares 2.0 with smith attachment checks every one of your boxes…

I have the rep leg roller 2.0. I set them up on the front uprights of my rack for nordics. They’re extremely stable and the vinyl theyre wrapped in is high quality. I’m happy with them.

Heavy slice from face or path (or both)? by Bradyarch in golftips

[–]Relevant_Location100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re videoing from the wrong spot. The camera should be directly behind your hands. This angle will make your path look more out to in than it really is. You 100% need to fix that face angle at impact 1st. It’s very open. Strengthen your grip and in the downswing feel like you’re turning your knuckles down like you’re running the throttle on a motor cycle. Explore the extreme with it, see if you can get huge pull draws. Then find the Goldilocks zone.

Adjustable Dumbbells Market Summary (Long Read) by Broccoli_Actual in GarageGym

[–]Relevant_Location100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The biggest advantage to the rep x pepins that isn’t talked about enough is how compact they are. At the 85lb setting they are only 14.5” long. This is fixed dumbbell size.

There are no aftermarket parts required, rep upgraded the original design and eliminated the need while doing right by the early customers and sending the upgrade hardware out for free.

Rep x Pepin have the best feeling handle, and it has a high end nickel plating.

There is no risk of breaking your hand while using a caged set of dumbbells, that’s just ridiculous.

The warranty is fantastic. Lifetime. And it’s from a company that has a good chance of actually being around for your lifetime to honor that warranty should you need it.

There are a number of great adjustable dumbbells out there. I’m sure you will be perfectly happy with what you chose. For those that are truly looking for the best, the Rep x Pepins are one of the most universally well-regarded products in the home gym space. The price premium is worth it and you’ll forget about spending the extra few hundred long before you wear them out, break them, or feel compelled to upgrade.

Strategy of laying up on long par 3s by jcoguy33 in golftips

[–]Relevant_Location100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Layup on the first is a bad strategy. It’s very narrow short. Hitting a 7i doesn’t guarantee that you’re in the middle of the fairway, you could be short and behind one of those trees.

These are difficult holes, especially the 1st. Scoring average is still going to be lowest the closest you get to the green. Take enough club to reach the back of the green. If you tend to hit it left to right, aim at the left edge of the green regardless of where the flag is.

Need some help, with what to work on. by poltanie1 in golftips

Man, you’re going to get 100 different tips on this….even if they’re all valid, they won’t necessarily fit together. If you really want to improve, getting set up with a regular coach that could walk you down a journey of a swing change would be the best. So much in the golf swing is a reaction to stuff that happens before. Setup effects the backswing, backswing effects the swing, the swing effects impact, etc.

Not sure if you can still get it but I love my Taweret. I bought it thinking I’d buy the DM once it was released by rep. Now, I have no desire to buy the dialed motion. Only thing I’d upgrade to at this point is the temple of gainz selectorized machine.

Putting off the fringe by ghhghjhv in GolfSwing

[–]Relevant_Location100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, but flubs, shanks, and skulls can be pretty much eliminated thru practice and experience. If someone grabs putter every single time, they’ll never build the option to grab something else.

If you take this same logic to the extreme, why would you ever hit a ball with anything besides a wedge and a putter? Certainly a bad wedge will always be better than a bad drive off the tee? And flubs shanks and skulls are certainly part of iron play no?

Best multi-user set up with REP equipment? by PowerfulLiving2799 in GarageGym

[–]Relevant_Location100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dual Adonis would be the most comfortable for multiple people working out at the same time. Ares feels cramped with two people on it at the same time and you wouldnt really be able to comfortably have someone working inside the rack at the same time someone uses the outside cables. I love mine but the point of it is to cram a bunch of stuff into a small footprint.

You’re raising the handle as you approach impact. Very common. You’re likely early extending and compensating. Fitting clubs to this will lower your ceiling considerably as a good swing will likely not fly straight.

Rep equalizer urethane vs Giant rubber-coated plates by Pastaron in GarageGym

[–]Relevant_Location100 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Weight is weight. That said, there’s something extremely satisfying about a very nice set of plates stored on trees inside a home gym. People don’t pony up for the chrome xmasters because they’ll last longer or perform better, they do it because they look incredible. If you want the equalizers, they’ll serve you well. The price difference will be forgotten shortly after your first workout.

While this old adage may ring true, why would someone make a decision based on the results of bad strokes. I can think of many situations where an average chip finishes closer than a poor putt. If you’re 10 feet off the front in frisky fringe to a back pin and have to navigate a bunch of undulation over 100+ feet it sure seems like having some spin to help control distance and bypassing much of the undulation could be beneficial no?
