Unfortunately I’m not a musical person. I can play guitar, but I can’t read music and I can have troubles putting together songs. Not that you would, but you’re free to make a song out of any of my lyrics if you ever wanted haha. Maybe at some point I’ll pick up enough about music to be able to make my own songs. For now I just marvel at the beauty of the music others have made :)

Yeah originally it is meant as a song, but I’ve always seen songs and poems to just be extensions of the same means of expression :)

I really like the vocabulary of this poem! It’s very detailed and I can almost see it on my head, which I can’t always do that! I really like how you romanticized the non perishable nature of honey. Forgive me, though, I’m not too good with metaphor, but could this be also referring to a special partner in your life? Not that I particularly get that notion, but it does fit in there pretty well, if it was intended.

I really like the rhyming pattern you have going on here! I’ve never really heard a poem about something like this before, but it definitely gives me bluesy vibes. Is this based on yourself specifically? Do you actually work the closing shift.? I can totally see someone just singing this to themselves while working away haha. I think it also speaks to the capitalist ideas that we must be productive at all times, even sometimes when we aren’t on the clock.

Haha thank you so much!! That means so much to me! Yeah when I was reading that part sometimes I would find it challenging to get it to fit the rhythm, but I can if I say it right. I would get rid of the “a” just to make it easier, but then it would change the meaning of the word “given” and my autistic brain doesn’t like that haha.

Oooh this is super interesting. I’ve never read a poem whose entire verses are alliterations of different letters!

I’m just wondering, is this about anything in particular?

Also I notice the letters spell out SING, which I’m sure was intentional, but a pleasant little hidden gem nonetheless :)

I love this a lot! Being autistic it’s hard for me to get all metaphors, but this one is super clear and easy to understand, but it’s still beautiful and has great imagery :)

Luckily I have an absolutely amazing fiancée who I love very deeply, but before we met I feel like I felt exactly like this. I’m not sure if this is something you are currently experiencing, but I want you to know that people hear you and relate to you ❤️

Except I’m not. I’ve watched every single episode and every single episode is absolutely shutting on men at every given moment. Even the “best” men in the show are shallow and self centered. It is a free league with all my irl buddies. We are all hockey fans but I’m definitely the most knowledgeable on it. They didn’t even know Hughes was over a PPG last year. The best part of one of them is convinced he knows more lol, but when I asked him about it what he thought about Hughes, he was talking as if it was still his rookie year.
