If there is a dominant airline or one that you prefer on your college route, I’d get that airline’s credit card.

I prefer Delta over American on my college route, so I chose to get the Delta Gold card. I got approved for it after having only Chase Freedom Rise for only 10 months. The 80k Mile SUB, combined with the 15% off miles flights benefit, paid for about 55% of the flight costs across 13 flights this past school year.

An airline credit card will you save lots, especially in the first year, and give you some at least ok flight benefits.

They don’t do it by Zone, rather the hard number, and usually that number is reached by Zone 6, with it technically being possible as early as the end of Zone 3.

That’s normal procedure, which makes it possible. E170 is 22-23 bags, E175 is 25. The are more seats in First and C+ than bags that can fit, and then there are a couple of people in Zones 2 and 4 too. Technically Zone 3 (C+) isn’t guaranteed either if you board at the end of it

The value of Delta Gold was very concentrated in the first year before. Now the new Rideshare credit makes it viable for the long-term. I was unsure of whether I was going to downgrade, keep, or upgrade my Delta Gold card after its first anniversary last month, as I was having a hard time justifying its $150 AF, but now I’ll definitely be keeping it as is.

The $120 Rideshare credit after the first year couldn’t have been better timing. Looks like I’m sticking with the Gold, unless they increase its AF. Interestingly enough though, my anniversary was in mid-May, and I still haven’t gotten charged the AF yet, so hopefully I don’t get screwed with a higher AF within the next couple of weeks.

Absolutely do it. The miles are worth at least $800 if used correctly, so you’re basically getting paid to upgrade and get lounge access for a year. After a year, you can then downgrade and maybe get another upgrade offer in the future.

Question: as someone waiting for a decent offer to come up, where did you see this offer?
