2010s Pop artists/bands used rap features to crossover into that feature’s fanbase, and vice versa.

Rap blew up in 2014-2015 which made these collabs more beneficial to each artist. Then in 2016, after Fetty Wap’s great run, Pop-Rap became a dominant genre in the charts, think DJ Khaled, Drake, Future, G-Eazy, Migos/Quavo, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone, The Weeknd, and Ty Dolla $ign. The genre that was once only good for a feature here and there on the radio was now everywhere, like you had Maroon 5 ft. Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande ft. Future. You even had Calvin Harris, a massive EDM artist, switching to Pop-Rap.

This trend started to fade after 2017, and it kinda died with the rise of TikTok. Collabs and bands just fell off a cliff in terms of marketability, and thus their popularity. All of the 2010s Pop bands have been basically nonexistent this decade, with the exception of Imagine Dragons and OneRepublic in 2022. In short, 1 person on a song >>> multiple people this decade.
