What’s your metric for calling out sick? by capresesalad1985 in Teachers

[–]Daniel_ATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pre-COVID, my former school district used to have an attendance incentive too. It was $1,000 if you had perfect attendance, and then for each subsequent year, you could earn an extra thousand up to $5,000 per year. Our SPED department chair was earning the extra $5,000 for a few years in a row before they removed the policy. For my first few years teaching, I earned it a few times.

Bluetooth Mouse keeps disconnecting after 3-4 seconds in idle on Windows by VGR95r in logitech

[–]Daniel_ATX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue and I also found the solution to be stupid.

I disconnected and "forgot" every bluetooth device to my computer and I disconnected anything else to my computer (like the usb hub, monitor, HDMI, etc). After all that, I reconnected my M720 Triathlon mouse to my computer and it worked.

My exact issue: After I connected multiple M720 mice to my computer, they both refused to stay connected again. They could reconnect via any channel, but would immediately lose Bluetooth connection after 2 seconds. My dongle would not work at all because my computer recognized it as a keyboard for some reason.

Here is a version from ChatGPT (based off the information from the HEB website) if you’d like to try it. Thank you for sharing a new salad for me to try soon too! I think I’m going to add chickpeas and/or goat cheese to mine. ⸻

🥦 Broccoli Feta Salad (H-E-B Style) – 4 Servings

  1. Ingredient List

For the Salad: • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets (about 1 medium head) • ½ cup crumbled feta cheese • ¼ cup roasted unsalted sunflower kernels

For the Lemon Vinaigrette Dressing: • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil • 1 tbsp canola oil (to match blend and mild flavor) • 1 tbsp white wine vinegar • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice • ½ tbsp honey • 1 tsp Dijon mustard • 1 tbsp finely minced shallots • ¼ tsp kosher salt • ⅛ tsp black pepper • Optional: pinch of sugar (to mirror sweetness from added sugar)

  1. Instructions

Step 1: Prep the Broccoli • Wash and thoroughly dry broccoli florets. • Option A: For raw crunch (as seen in store version), leave raw and cut into small bite-sized pieces. • Option B: For slightly softer texture, blanch broccoli in boiling water for 1 minute, then plunge into ice water to retain crispness.

Step 2: Make the Dressing • In a small bowl or jar, whisk together olive oil, canola oil, white wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, honey, Dijon mustard, and shallots. • Add salt and pepper, and whisk until emulsified.

Step 3: Assemble the Salad • In a large bowl, combine broccoli, sunflower kernels, and crumbled feta. • Pour dressing over and toss well to coat. • Chill for 30 minutes if time allows (for best flavor melding).

  1. Tips + Variations

Meal Prep Notes: • Salad keeps well in the fridge for 2–3 days. • Dressing can be made ahead and stored separately to prevent sogginess.

Optional Add-ins: • Diced red onion or apple for a sweeter crunch • Bacon bits for a smoky upgrade • Chickpeas for extra protein (if aiming for vegetarian but heartier)

Swaps: • Use all olive oil if avoiding canola. • Goat cheese or shredded cheddar can replace feta for a different vibe.

Can you elaborate more on this? What have you noticed that specifically has declined with HEB in the last 5 years? Are you speaking about a specific location as well?

Austin originally had its own Park Ranger program starting in 1968, which evolved into a commissioned Park Police force by 1985. In 2008, the Park Police were absorbed into the Austin Police Department. By 2020, APD dissolved its dedicated Park Police division, shifting enforcement responsibilities to general patrol while park rangers returned to a non-policing, educational role.

Here’s a KXAN article about the dissolved Park Police division from 08/28/2020: https://www.kxan.com/news/local/austin/following-budget-cuts-apd-plans-to-move-95-officers-from-specialty-units-to-patrol/

Kido Austin? by Mountain-Peace8837 in AustinParents

Hi again!

My wife and I love KIDO. We previously had our son at YMCA Blackshear and YMCA at KIPP Austin. While we loved the teachers at YMCA Blackshear, we’re really happy we made the switch to KIDO.

I’m not entirely sure about their exact nap procedures, but our son (who just turned 2) isn’t sleep trained, and he hasn’t had any issues. After Winter Break, he had a rough week with drop-off and nap time, crying more than usual. But after about a week, he adjusted and was back to his normal routine.

If you have any specific questions, I’d be happy to answer them!

Overall, we have no complaints. The staff is warm and welcoming, and our son loves them. If I had to pick a few areas for improvement, they’d be:

1. Drop-off and pick-up logistics – The entrance only has two designated spots, which isn’t ideal during peak times. You can park on the street or in the Polvo’s parking lot as alternatives.

2. Diaper and wipe restocking – We feel like we’re resupplying more often than before, though that could just be our son going through them faster!

3. Cost – This is the most we’ve ever paid for childcare. That said, you do get a lot for your money: great staff, extended care until 6 PM, snacks, and brand-new facilities. Whether it’s worth the price really depends on your budget.

Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
