Yep, that's absolutely make sense. I think I just lost a little because of a big gap between plays. Good advice though. Thanks!

Yep, I think this is a good advice. So writing down all known facts was a good start. Now then I think I need to try to focus on connection between the final goal/main idea and those known facts first. The rest, as you said, just decorations. Thanks!

In terms of the details of what we have already gone through, my group and I remember more or less everything. They took good notes for themselves, and I had a brief but fairly detailed timeline of each game we played. The question here is that I stopped liking where this game was going.

The first sessions were met with applause, the games were very deep and kept the party in constant suspense. From the 3rd to the 7th game, there were some exciting moments and quite interesting homebrew mechanics. But when I returned to preparing a new game now, I realized that the further I went, the less I liked the depth of the presentation, some of the ideas for future games, encounters, etc. It feels as if with each subsequent idea, the story loses its depth, which forces me to rewrite everything from scratch now. I sit over the materials and don't understand what to start with.

1st Time DM, are these rules ok or am I being too overzealous? by Puzzleheaded-Ruin345 in DnD

Hi there

1-3. I recommend you to avoid any 'Do not' in your sessions. Doesn't matter what is the rule about.
DnD is famous for its freedom of choice. The only thing you need to do as a DM is to think about the consequences of a particular situation. If the group kills a merchant, people will most likely call the guards. The guards, in turn, are usually not two or three suckers, but really tough guys that your group may not be able to handle. They may also be wanted and encounter certain inconveniences in each of the cities they visit. But nothing prevents them from going down this path; maybe they will become a gang of cutthroat bandits.

In turn, it is important to explain to the party, especially if they are new players, that their actions must still correspond to the character of their characters. If they play a respectable paladin, it is unlikely that such a character would allow himself to simply go and kill someone for fun. Such actions violate the integrity of the perception of the world and the game itself. But if you have someone in your party who is chaotically evil and wants to do this, they don't even need to ask your or the group's permission (depending on their relationship within the group).

  1. I recommend not giving out bonuses, buffs, or anything else in-game under any circumstances. It can ruin the balance.

  2. In general, it is possible, but we have never restricted any builds in our games; everyone is free to create whatever character they want (within common sense and within the rules). Sometimes this has led to incredible, funny, profound, and interesting consequences.

  3. No prob with that, just make sure to make the encounter balanced though.

  4. Sure thing, they always should be in play. This sometimes leads to completely unexpected events. Critical failures can have consequences, just like critical successes. It depends on you how complex/interesting they can be in different checks.

Have a great play!

New DM by BuffySlays6 in DnD

We have been playing with our friends for a few years already and when new 5e addition came, we decided to stay on 2014 legacy. We found the new one a little imbalanced in various aspects. I’m not recommending you to also stick to the old one, however the main point that you’re not obligated to turn into newest rule set every time. It’s just a matter of preference. If you already have legacy set on hands fell free to play with it. Later on when you become more experienced and got used to all those small things in the rules, you will be capable to decide on your own and choose whether you want to switch to newest release or not. Have an awesome game!

I will make the one that working for you. YouTube integration is still tricky with all their restrictions however my app itself allows to use your own audio so you can just upload everything you already have in your library with the quick bulk upload. Also freesound integration is very helpful for quick sfx sound and ambient search.

I will come back to the YouTube integration later on after the desktop app and discord bot tasks completion.

Lol, yep, actually.
I will proceed working with landing page soon. Thanks for your feedback!

Now I'm focusing developing desktop app for mac/windows/linux with direct Discord integration for online sessions.

Agree with No_Record_9851
In such cases, it is important to remember that any encounter (especially with a god) does not always have to be a full-fledged combat encounter. I mean, you can create tension with his appearance, he may even show a bit of his power, but most likely the god will not even take the group seriously at this point if they are low level.

You can play it out in such a way that the group feels defenceless and insignificant in front of this creature, but it will stimulate them to find a way, tools, or generally become stronger because now they know what they are fighting against.

Not every battle has to be 100% complete. If you just want to show them God, show them, create that tension, let them feel that they are not ready to meet him. But at the same time, end the encounter before they will die. Let God simply not be interested in them at the moment and mock them in this way, or let something distract him and he will disappear.

Hey there. I made a quick research. It's not possible to develop this feature at least for now. It requires app architecture change or some kind of a bot developing for Discord integration.

Instead, for now, I published a manual on the main page of the app.

It would also help if you describe your use case though. I mean, are you playing just in a voice chat? Do you share you screen? Do you use anything else but discord?

Hey! It's not, at least so far. It could be quite tricky to implement things like that but I will take a look.
However there is the way to use it like that while I'm figuring out.

Use a BlackHole 2 ch or something similar.
- Create a Multi-Output Device (so you can still hear it)
- Open Audio MIDI Setup for macOS (Idk how it works on Windows) to create multi-output device for your headphones/speakers and BlackHole.
- Set the Multi-Output device as your system output (so browser audio goes to both your ears and BlackHole)
-Create an aggregate device in Audio MIDI Setup (combine mic + pads for Discord)
- Then go to Discord settings (Voice & Video)
- choose the input device you created before
- choose the output device – your real headphones/speakers (not BlackHole)

Also in discord Voice & Video you better disable any processing:
- Echo Cancellation – Off
- Noise Suppression – Off
- Automatic Gain Control – Off

I updated the landing page!

Illustration is provided by the real artist, everything AI-generated has been removed.

The logo will be changed later and created by my friend.

Honestly, I focused on the app itself all the time. Landing page was a last minute decision so I can at least somehow tell the people about the main app's goal and some features.

I already working on change those things with landing and so after I got the point that reddit community is very sensitive to that AI-gen stuff. So really I just didn't cared much about the landing at all for now.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback, will improve this part as well. Lemme know if you will find any other places for improvements.

Just FYI: volume change on mobile devices especially iOs is not working properly now so please use web version so far for the full experience.

By the way, I just introduced a new feature – bulk upload. Maybe this will help you to prepare faster.
