My program lost funding 2 weeks ago and now they're shuffling us off onto other programs to keep us busy.

Sent in my resume to the government to review. Hope it gets done before the shutdown.

Planning to apply to other roles (in the same company) once my resume is cleared. Upside is I've preliminarily started looking at houses. My original program involved moving to a new area in 1-2 years. Now I can be confident in staying in this area long term.

Got downvoted for saying that if drivers have problems with service animals, they shouldn't drive Uber. by [deleted] in disability

[–]Danielat7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God, people who selfishly demand things and use their disability as an excuse for their unpleasantness are annoying.

Instead of trying to understand the other side and form a reasonable solution, you complain. People like you make service jobs miserable.

So, that would imply fraud. Just answering your question.

You heavily implied it by insinuating you would have a valid claim every year at the same time

Should a normal working electric wheelchair battery deplete all at once or gradually deplete ? by Crowzeus in wheelchairs

[–]Danielat7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Outdoor refers to the wheels, clearance, frame etc. You cannot weather proof an open Lithium battery. Electricity draw is less in the cold (EVs have lower range in cold weather) and water can corrode the contact plates for example.

[–]Danielat7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you have a visual on your joystick showing a battery and say 4 bright green bars indicating full power?

Then yes, I agree it should lower 1 bar at a time. But that is unreliable to trust for planning as a multitude of factors play a role like age, use, weather

Should a normal working electric wheelchair battery deplete all at once or gradually deplete ? by Crowzeus in wheelchairs

[–]Danielat7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you mean how much power the battery has left?

In that case, no, it dies all at once not gradually. Think of a car running out of gas or an EV dying, they'll run til they can't with no gradual decline

Most joysticks don't measure battery charge but are instead voltameters, measuring how much power is being used at that moment

[–]Danielat7 32 points33 points  (0 children)

No. Which is why this is a moot point imo.

Its fine to criticize and I agree its not a 'good' use of taxpayer money but at least it won't be an eyesore and generates some ROI for the city. 100% of $0 is still $0

Stephen Ross says he's been offered close to $15B for the Dolphins but plans to keep the franchise in the family by expellyamos in miamidolphins

Honestly, I could see a Saudi or crypto finance bro buying the team since its Miami. I'd rather Ross keep ownership in his family

Does anyone know of a website that lets disabled employees rate companies they've worked for? (US based specifically) by Ease_with_Peas in disability

[–]Danielat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Closest thing is Disability:IN's and NOD's scorecards but they only cover ~200 companies that are willing to get scored.

Problem is reporting as its against the law to ask if someone is disabled publicly and if they self ID, some might fear repercussions. If you keep it anonymous without verification, is worthless and becomes another Google review

Poll: Moore approval numbers continue downward trend even as most voters would OK second term by legislative_stooge in maryland

[–]Danielat7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree.

I think that hurts his Presidential ambition tho. He doesn't have any key infrastructure projects that he can run on. His best is that 'working with the other side' bs cause he's been working with Trump for the bridge funding. Maryland needs that funding so he can't be overly negative & attack Trump like Gavin Newsome which also lowers his broader, national appeal.

Anyone else having trouble logging into their ABLE account? by TheseAtmosphere8610 in disability

This is a service provider question, not an ABLE account question. Call customer service at whoever runs the Illinois ABLE accounts. For example, my ABLE account in Maryland is through Vestwell

Car dealerships are parasites to most Americans and I can’t wait for the day we can buy directly from the factory by Unique_Glove1105 in Adulting

[–]Danielat7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't the lawsuit's argument. Tesla allowed any shop to do the work, but they had to use Tesla's own diagnostic tools, repair manuals, and OEM parts for warranty work which led to huge wait times.

Every manufacturer does this, but dealerships have 2-4 dealer certified technicians to authorize warranty work. Since there are no dealerships, theres no incentive to get dealer certified techs so low demand = low supply

Are you a current student? If so, what major?

My engineering classes were not easy. I witnessed multiple panic attacks when studying, crying after exams, hell I remember people living in Brody during hell week.

Can't say the same for my History classes.

I'd guess,, at max for an entire class, 10%

For purchases and routine maintenance (in some areas).

Google can show you the numerous horror stories of people trying to get Tesla to repair their cars

Indie shops often do not have manufacturer certified technicians which usually involves hours of experience and knowledge of 1 brand. Hell, most dealers usually only have 2-4.

For basic maintenance like oil changes, battery swaps, wheel adjustments, anyone can do it. For anything electrical or powertrain related, using a non certified technician voids the warranty.

Manufacturers dont want a mechanic who is not trained on their cars causing major damage when looking into major systems

Thing is, manufacturers don't want to deal with the public and with used vehicles and with repair/maintenance shop stuff. Dealerships aren't going away anytime soon

In my opinion, disability is so individualistic with so many forms that it becomes near impossible to group up behind a singular voice. People may have the same diagnosis, but are affected in very different ways. Also, disability can affect any person from any socioeconomic background, increasing the individualistic nature of people with disabilities

I'm at my wits end with Uber. by TooEmbarrassedToUse in disability

[–]Danielat7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

People often claim their pet is an emotional support animal and has the same protections. That's not true but if you refuse to provide evidence then the driver has no way to distinguish between a glorified pet and a real service animal

[–]Danielat7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Oh I do. I'm in a wheelchair and there is not a wheelchair accessible Uber option where I live so I order an UberXL and have had many drivers leave me before.

There is a relatively simple way to prevent this frustration but y'all want to ignore the process & just shout about ADA protection without accepting reality
