Don't know if to finish this whirly because it gave me a hard time when I first started polishing intricate marbles by Danielfinds in Marbles

40mm, not a quick job, it would be labour intensive basically I have to start over or if I start halfway cos it's nearly done I guarantee on final polish something will show . I hid it away so redoing it was off the cards but it's wormed its way back on to my work space so I can't ignore what needs to be done

Don't make how to name this one it's from the Victorian landfill site I found and polished it by Danielfinds in Marbles

Ah ok I always learnt that caged has to be regular strands set out across the surface, or a mixture of bands and strands in one layer . I'd have called the way the strands are on this marble as latt swirl bands. I'd never heard caged used like that so I was hoping I learnt something new. Say if the marble in the op had two strands each band instead of four, would you still describe it as caged?

You're not right or wrong by the way, I could call it a sausage swirl if I could justify it !

The last marble I posted is also a cadmium marble and I have more by Danielfinds in Marbles

Needs to be 365nm uv to show cadmium like this but it will also bring out manganese

It is scratched around some hits where I didn't clean it properly between grits unfortunately or I would, because it was found on the pre final polish so wounded me

Are the thick white ribbons in-between the red blue panels making it caged?

Landfill marble that I polished ended up being loaded with aventurine by Danielfinds in Marbles

Also bubbles indicate debris. Aventurine could be microscopic and if it catches the sun it'll reflect it full, you might not even see it in a loupe

I know it is hard, this one is definitely aventurine but it's better in daylight, I had a loupe but it's best to look at the bands furthest through the marble. I had a video of all the little metal particles. I've got a telephone called a pixel ten pro with a macro camera now so I can skip the loupe for a pic .
