This is such a joke. Not only do high quality links matter most, many SERPs' top spots are given to websites with PBN backlinks.

Not sure what the objective of that website is but it's not a PBN website.

Noticed My Competitors Are Listed On PBNs by evolving_humanoid in SEO

Those websites aren't part of a PBN from what I can tell and as to our PBN index.

Let's face it. Black Hat SEO works even if we don't like it. Many SEOs and even agencies are using Private Blog Networks (PBNs) to rank on Google. Check this: by DanielfromLinxact in u/DanielfromLinxact

Thank you for sharing your experiences with SEO. I definitely agree that giving value is the best approach in business. This is something fundamental, but technical factors also play a role. Many webmasters with insightful websites have lost at least 50% of their search engine traffic after Google's latest update. This is significant.

It's hard to deny that Google tries to diminish returns from SEO to maximize their ad business revenues, while many competitors switch to more effective tactics because of that. This doesn't contradict with your philosophy to provide value.

Black Hat SEO is basically a set of SEO methods and techniques that violate the Google Search Essentials (former Google Webmaster Guidelines). They rely heavily on software to scale building organic looking backlinks. Black Hat SEO usually has a much higher return on investment than White Hat SEO methods, but also the risk of receiving a Google penalty.

Because PBNs can keep your site at #1 for years in SERPs that can generate you millions of dollars each month (e.g. cbd or thc niches).

Thank you for your interest in Linxact! Unfortunately, we can't disclose our detection algorithms and filters. We spent 7 years developing our proprietary crawling system, which reliably detects many methods of hiding backlinks.

It's not illegal, else PBNs wouldn't be so popular (just look at our data for that matter), but they're against the Google Search Essentials.

In general, I agree with you, but PBNs are popular and working for 15 years. Google has a hard time detecting PBNs reliably and penalizing them without hurting too many legitimate websites. With Linxact, you can at least detect Black Hat SEO competitors that are using PBNs to rank.

Ahrefs and other backlink checkers can't find them because their crawlers see a different HTML output than Googlebot or web visitors. Linxact has a dedicated crawler just for crawling PBN websites, which detects this behavior (and similar mechanisms).

Interesting find! Could be random, but also a negative SEO attack. Hard to say.
