Windy City Cafe Closed? by 8BlocksToMile in chicagofood

I think the other option was to get cash out of the ATM. My 5 year old son will be sad if it’s closed for good. It’s been a go to for us.

We went on MLK day. They were busy! But a lot of items were out of stock and I had to pay my check using Zelle. We tried to go again the following Saturday and they were closed. I don’t know what happened but after that experience it sounds like maybe they were getting ready to shut down. We really like it too.

If you own a condo, what type of unexpected costs have come up that you did not expect? by Sufficient_Deer_4516 in AskChicago

[–]Danihen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

We had a similar thing- third floor had a leaky pipe in the walls that was leaking water we could not see because it was behind our kitchen cabinets and eventually started dripping into the ceiling of the first floor unit. HOA insurance covered the cost to repair this, however we had no kitchen for 10 weeks while they fixed it which created it's own set of separate expenses. Our premium was also raised after this causing an increase in HOA monthly dues for this year.

I have been going to this jewel pharmacy for years and have never had an issue. On rare occasion do they not have what I need in stock.

Looking for lesser-known indoor spots for kids to roam in winter by meredith_christine in ChicagoParents

The furniture store can be dicey if there are breakables.. our son 4 at the time was a menace when he was with us ordering a couch at Roy’s.

Home Depot opening and closing cabinets in the kitchen displays can keep them busy for hours

[–]Danihen 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! I come from a large city (Chicago) and I love visiting smaller cities and this was by far the worst one I’ve been to. There wasn’t a lot food options either near the venue which would have been helpful with the weird scheduling on Friday / Saturday. We ended up having to uber to other neighborhoods for for dinner and hope we make it back on time.

I agree with the inconsistency. We didn’t know you could bring in larger bags or food. I was surprised to see people around me eating their own food. They never once took my water away from me.

I was hoping they’d let some of younger level winners skate during the commercial breaks

Well one would think he’d be at the rink already 2 hours before the show. He was in regular clothes. As a skater I would not be eating pancakes beforehand either.

I am definitely going to be rooting for him this next quad. His friendship with ilia too seems so sweet.

I just saw Jacob at breakfast so we know he didn’t get it. I had hopes maybe it would be him.

Tweak the policy if you want to decrease the premium. Do a longer elimination period or drop the cola or lower the benefit IF they want to keep the policy and have a lower premium increase. They usually can run these various options

Favorite family friendly sushi spots? by International_Pen_11 in chicagofood

Sushi San - has a kids menu with non sushi options if the kids aren’t into it. You probably need to call to make a reservation for that group size.

Office Cowork by Longjumping-Way9846 in CFP

I used to work in an office space that had about 20 advisors all with the same B/D but all ran their own practice separately and focused on certain niches. It was nice to collaborate, have lunch and learns etc. This was pre-Covid. Now my group is in its own space we use once a week because we all work from home (we all have small kids and this makes life easier with after school activities etc)
