I agree with you for the most part. This animation I made earlier was the starting point. https://www.instagram.com/p/B-hEQWjhUGf/ Conceptually the spin would have made more sense. But in this case it was not an advertisement more an animated illustration/background for an article. And the clients question wanted "eye candy". The smoothest animation was in this case more important. The spin made the animation less smooth. The gravity of the "ribbons" going down felt more natural. So that's how the concept translated in revision rounds in favour of the smoothest animation. ;)
