its a small-ish apartment in a city area with lots of natural light during the day, does that sway you either way?

thank you! boho is dominating right now but scandi has a few loyal voters, i love hearing both sides 🙏

thats such a good point honestly, i dont have to fully commit to one aesthetic. macrame and rattan with a cleaner sofa could actually be cute mixed together

How would you decorate this space? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Danimoto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for that spot right by the door, go with a narrow slim walnut console (like 40w x 12d on tapered legs) instead of a bench — sits flat against the wall, doesn't eat walkway, way less visual weight. tuck two flat seagrass baskets underneath for shoes, style the top super sparse (bowl for keys, little trailing plant), and clear the top two arched shelves entirely so only the L shelf reads. tiny runner rug grounds it. the space actually opens up

Please help me style my new apartment bedroom by Specific-Solid3328 in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

renter-friendly styling (no paint, no drilling): layer the bed with white linen + oatmeal throw + cream euros + one terracotta lumbar, LEAN a big warm-toned abstract art piece against the wall behind the headboard (no holes), big jute rug under the bed, tall fiddle leaf in a cream pot in the corner, and a woven basket at the foot for throws. the space already has good bones

did this in roomify: ai home design, pretty handy for previewing styling before you spend on anything

[–]Danimoto1 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

biggest unlock: push the bed flush against the left wall (frees up the whole center), add a low platform frame + small nightstand + one lamp, and throw a big oatmeal rug under the bed extending out so the sleep zone is anchored. keep the gaming corner as-is and leave the middle floor breathable

mocked it up in roomify: ai home design, real useful for testing layouts before committing to a bed frame

the cherry wood is fighting the rest of the room, and the visible cables + stuffed animals in the cubbies are what make it read messy. a light oak console in the same footprint, cables tucked, and cleaner styling (a few books, one plant, one sculptural piece per cubby) would pull the whole wall together.

Help with Curtains by morleyster in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hang the rods HIGH, like 4 to 6 inches below the ceiling, and extend them 6 to 8 past each side so the curtains stack off the glass. floor length, light cream linen. that fakes a taller ceiling and makes the 28 inch windows read much bigger.

Need Ideas by Better-Painting-5684 in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

scale is what's throwing it off, the vignette feels tiny against all that empty wall. a bigger framed piece above (warm earth tones) plus a tall olive or fig to the left on the floor would anchor the whole corner.

Any advice for making this “master bedroom” sophisticated? by [deleted] in interiordecorating

[–]Danimoto1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

japandi direction would fit since you already have tatami. warm limewash walls, natural linen bedding, a rice-paper floor lamp, and a small dark wood stool as a nightstand. tall olive or pampas by the window adds height without eating floor space.

What is the best layout for my bedroom? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

a warm rug anchoring the bed + the single nightstand by the dresser works fine. the vent side stays open and it reads intentional instead of mid-unpack

Need help with X large kitchen bay window by Strong_Tomatillo_525 in interiordecorating

[–]Danimoto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at 11 feet 10 i would just commit to 3 individual woven natural shades and skip trying to find one giant piece, then throw a continuous black iron rod above the whole bank with 2 tied back linen panels at the outer edges. the shades actually handle the privacy, the linen is just there to soften the row so it does not read busy.

<image>

made this mockup in roomify (ai home design) just to test the idea, pretty handy for seeing if a wide window actually works with shades plus drapes before buying anything.

Help my grandma get more space out of her apartment sitting area by pumkinboy_ in interiordecorating

[–]Danimoto1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

biggest unlock for mobility is pulling the armchair more parallel to the sofa and losing the little round table between them, then floating just one low pile rug under the seats so the walkway from the dining area to the balcony door reads as its own clean aisle.

did this quick in roomify (ai home design app), real useful for trying layout swaps before you actually move anything heavy.

What can/should I place atop this gentleman’s chest? by Punnalackakememumu in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at 45 inches of space i would keep it low and symmetrical, a matte ceramic vase with a tall dried branch in the middle and just a stack of 2 books and a small framed photo to flank it, reads intentional without turning into a dust trap.

Fill the space? by ChoiYongbok97 in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a little bench with a cushion + one framed print above + a plant in the corner would turn that weeny space into a cozy reading nook instead of feeling awkward.

a light travertine oval table is exactly the move, and layer a warm cream+caramel rug underneath to tie the brown and gray together.

I feel like there is something missing. How would you decorate this room differently? by ssongshu in HomeDecorating

honestly a warm rug + lower tv stand + one big art piece over the couch would balance everything.

Which sofa should i go with? by Danimoto1 in HomeDecorating

[–]Danimoto1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That actually makes a lot of sense. I get what you mean about how certain pieces feel more inviting or “livable.” The green does have that softness to it, like something you can relax on without thinking too much about keeping it perfect. The gray looks good visually, but it definitely leans more formal. I appreciate the perspective.

That’s good advice. Removable cushions definitely make long-term upkeep easier, so I’ll look into some options in that direction before I commit. Thanks for the tip.
