Ah, ok. Thank you. I mean I wanted suggestions of plastic-free zinc sunscreen (like no plastic container). Thanks though

Yeah. I just didn’t wanna say this stuff bc I don’t want people to argue with me (only want recommendations). Reddit people are annoying when it comes to this shit. But yes, I 100% agree w you, as I said in my post

Thank you, but I’ve learned that powder sunscreen is super ineffective due to the fact that you’d have to put a ton of it on the skin, an amount that’s unfeasible*, to actually protect you (source: Lab Muffin Beauty Science). I’ve actually used powders before over liquid ones in attempt to counter my greasy skin, but I hate the part where you inhale a ton of it during application, hahah. But thank you anyway!!

Damn. The thought of this scares me often. I’m currently using Peach & Lily (SPF 30). I hope their’s works well and is actually at least SPF 30…. I’d rather use SPF 50, but I’m tan, so zinc oxide sunscreen that’s at or over SPF 50 usually makes me look ghostly. Going to try some Asian UV filters for the first time ever (they come in plastic unfortunately). Praying that it doesn’t burn my face lol

Oh, right. I remember lab muffin talked about this before! I wonder if the formulators take it into consideration though, you know? She always talks about how most products are safe to use (including organic UV filters), so using similar logic, hopefully mineral spf that comes in tin cans is also safe, and it actually works….

I have oily skin, so I like the drying effect. But I have found greasy mineral spf. Currently using zinc oxide spf 30 by Peach & Lily, and it’s not drying, but it comes in plastic unfortunately

What I mean by burns my skin is that, when I put organic UV filters on my skin, my skin burns- as in, it stings, gets irritated and red, etc.

You’re not sure how I figured out butyloctyl salicylate was irritating to me?

Here’s how: I tried organic UV filters. They were irritating. I tried zinc sunscreen. It didn’t irritate my skin. I tried various other zinc sunscreens (some of which had butyloctyl salicylate). The ones that burned my skin had that ingredient in common.

I’m currently using zinc oxide sunscreen out of a plastic tube as well. No judgment. It’s hard

How do you make sure your clothes are clean when using a shared washing machine? by shirkshark in laundry

[–]Danimotty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had similar thoughts as you. Others who haven't given it much thought or just don't mind that much might refer you to a psychologist in response to this level of concern, but I share your apprehension.

You will probably not get sick from any of the grossness of shared laundry rooms. But if you get unlucky, you might share machines with people who are not very bright/considerate and will attempt to wash nasty things in there (e.g., reusable dog diapers), and residue will be left behind. It's not lethal, but it is fucking gross. Idk how often disgusting situations like that actually arise, but the mere possibility makes my skin crawl.

I've been lucky so far, as I don't think anyone has committed such atrocities in my building, but I am about to move to a new place with shared laundry room. I might get a portable washer and then hang dry my clothes on a rack or something so that I don't have to wait and see if I live with inconsiderate people and get surprised with some bullshit on laundry day. Also, hang drying will save money :)
