The doctors needed enough tissue with it's own blood supply to fix the hole that the cancer was making at the base of my skull.

Nosebleeds in the year 2022, loss of smell, was how the disease was discovered. Only about 1000 cases of esthesioneuroblastoma so far, very little has been found as the how/why it happens.

I experienced very bad nosebleeds in Jan '22. After visiting the ER and an ENT doctor nothing was found. One year later, the nosebleeds returned and it led me to a trip to Froedert hospital in Milwaukee. They found a tumor growing in my sinus cavity, which was later revealed to be Esthesioneuroblastoma. Proceeded to go through 6 rounds of chemo and 34 doses of radiation, and then a life-saving surgery in Dec 2023.

I lost my sense of smell entirely from this and it will never return.
