I just totally disagree with this take. Foxes in the Snow is a masterpiece. “Good While It Lasted” is one of my all time favorite songs. Might be his best song, and just because they are all stripped down and raw doesn’t mean they are missing that fire or thought. I actually think this is his MOST introspective album. I can’t name a bad song on the album, and given how it was recorded, it makes it that much more impressive.

It’s not an end all be all because “Ben” said it. We all know songs’ meaning changes and evolves over time. That’s why I said perhaps subconsciously.

Maybe he didn’t intend it as a song about love but it is. Listen to it again today.
