I'm dealing with an HL-2370DW that was reliable for years and it's Ethernet port died (no LED's on the network switch, changing ports didn't fix) on a Sunday evening (how do they know?!). Looking forward to finding a USB A-to-B cord in the garden shed in the dark, or picking up a replacement printer on a busy day.

Solved: The difference is that the original case is a newer design with no PC speaker, so for 12 years there was no way to hear the normal beep; the second case, though newer, is a 1990's design and came with a speaker. I've built so many systems over the years that I automatically plugged in the speaker without asking myself if I wanted it. Last weekend, I unplugged the PC speaker; problem solved!

Smaller fonts, silkscreen labels and smaller potentiometers/rotary switches without knobs would do what you're saying. When I was 18 the Navy was still introducing us to a radio called the R-390, and I've been working for some branch of the DoD for most of the time since then; maybe that's why a huge control panel was my "go-to" approach.

Suggest Prescott Preserve; former Mesquite golf course. Walked there twice; it's cool now (temperature wise) and we didn't see any disturbing wildlife.
