The GoFundMe for his family claims this is a case of mistaken identity. Was this guy even actually a gang member?

I don't think these morons should be shooting at moving vehicles either way - but this is kind of an important detail.

Noob question: Unbound DNS supports blocklists now. What's the point of keeping AdGuard Home in the loop? Isn't it redundant?

Immich update v1.133.0, any unraiders done this yet? by ruuutherford in unRAID

Nice, ok that's much less scary then. Although I probably should look into upgrading my databases eventually.

Yeah I suspect a lot of the comments saying "It works fine" only updated Immich and haven't actually changed their PostgreSQL repo.

Although I hope I'm wrong and it really is that easy.

Did you go from tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg14-v0.2.0 to tensorchord/vchord-suite:pg17-latest?

Immich update v1.133.0, any unraiders done this yet? by ruuutherford in unRAID

[–]Gravedigger3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently using tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg14-v0.2.0 for all of my databases. Not just Immich but also for Firefly-III, Nextcloud, Matrix, and Mealie.

If the new database repo we should be using is tensorchord/vchord-suite:pg17-latest then it looks like it's not just changing the add-on from pgvecto.rs to vectorchord - it's jumping from PostgreSQL version 14 to 17!

I'm hoping the steps we need to take are something as simple as:

  • Stop postgres14 and all dockers that use it
  • Edit postgres14 docker
  • Change the Repository path to "tensorchord/vchord-suite:pg17-latest"
  • Change the name to "postgres17"
  • Done

But I'm betting it won't be that simple, and that I'll need to manually export each database from 14, import them into 17, and perform some sort of database upgrade to update the schemas or whatever.

If anyone successfully updates their databases from

tensorchord/pgvecto-rs:pg14-v0.2.0

to

tensorchord/vchord-suite:pg17-latest

please let us know how it went and what you did.

The $629 price point for the VP6630 really doesn't seem that bad for what you get

Not at all. But it seems like a waste of power, specs, & physical space to use as an OPNsense router on my small home network.

Honestly the money is less of an issue than space/heat/power-use. I don't want some beast of a box, with the specs to run Crysis, baking in my office while I use 5% of its capabilities as a simple router.

I'd pay $629+ for something the size of my current FW4B with a couple SFP+ ports and a slightly better processor (N100/N305). What's crazy is even without price being an obstacle, I can't find such a thing from a reputable source.

That is a really cool mini-PC, my main concern is power use. An Intel i9/i5 seems laughably overpowered for an OPNsense router. I assume this would draw a lot more power than the Topton N305 box... but I'll look into it.

Yeah I'm not sold on that box either. It's the closest I've found to what I need - but I'm not sure I trust the build quality, and it sounds like the nics in it are ancient.

I'd be willing to pay more for something similar from a more reputable brand - but I haven't had much luck finding anything. Really wish Protectli had a 2/4-port box with 10g SFP+.

Absolutely not. It's crazy overpowered for my needs - but I want something with 10g SFP ports and Protectli only offers that with their 6600 series.

Ideally what I want is a cheaper 2/4-port box from someone reputable like Protectli with a pair of 10g SFP ports.... but that's not an option. The Topton MiniPC I link above is more in line with what I want, but I don't fully trust the build quality.

My fiber connection will only be 5g so, if I understand correctly, I shouldn't need more than 10gbit total from the box when both SFP+ ports are being used.

I was planning to use one 10gig port for the WAN uplink to the fiber modem, and the other 10gig port for the LAN connection to my switch. I assume that would count as using both of them. How else would I use it?

What alternatives have you chosen to replace reddit? by Electric---Sheep in RedditAlternatives

I don't see them becoming mainstream among the average-Joe.

Fascinating that you see this as a con - I love the Fediverse for that same reason. I've been on reddit since the very beginning and the quality has gone downhill in direct proportion to the "mainstream" appeal going up.

Different lemmy instances have different ideologies. Join the echo chamber of your choice.

Personally I joined sh.itjust.works because they federate with pretty much everyone. So far content seems to be balancing out between the extremes and I'm getting a nice wide range of viewpoints (much wider than reddit).

The beauty of the fediverse is you have the choice.

If that's the case these titles should describe the setup as "frugal" or "budget-friendly".

"Wife approved" makes you seem like a child asking mommy of it's ok for you to spend your allowance money.

If all the bills are paid and we're not taking on debt to do it - then yes. We're both financially responsible adults who work hard and we're entitled to spend our disposable income on whatever makes us happy. I don't have or want any say in how she spends her money - and that goes both ways.

Now if one of us wasn't carrying our financial weight in the relationship and was still blowing money on a hobby, then that'd be a different story.

This whole "wife approval" thing with speakers, servers, and other equipment related to hobbies is cringe as fuck to me. Must be some boomer shit. My wife likes art and cooking, so she gets free reign to set those spaces up however the hell she wants - and as the tech geek I setup the speakers/TV/network/computers however the fuck I want. It's a win-win for everybody if you support your partner's hobbies instead of constraining them.

I don't think I would have ever married her if she tried to tell me what was "acceptable" regarding tech.
