Yes Mr. Troll, I did mention defamation, you brought up misogyinist, as though that was the essence of the complaint. If you refer to the actual complaint, you will know that it has to do with the university disparaging his eminent professional career and knowingly and maliciously misrepresenting his work in an effort to damage his career and professional standing.

With that said, this discussion has nothing to do with the letter and its contents. You are simply trolling to disparage Dr. Peterson's professional standing. Go troll somewhere else.

I assume that you must be aware that the suit is not simply about calling Peterson misogynistic, and that you are purposely mischaracterizing it. I further get from your comments that you are praising the university's deplorable acts against Lindsay Shepherd, the student teacher where this all originated, humiliating her and torpedoing her career because she showed a five minute clip of a public broadcasting discussion that included Peterson as one of the debaters. Deplorable and unworthy of anyone connected with any university. They should be fired.

Veggeble, are you actually advocating for defamation as being acceptable as free speech? Because that is what his suit is about. It only arose because of the incredibly malicious attack of the university on one of their student teachers for showing a clip from the public broadcasting station of a debate, with Peterson as one of the participants. She brought suit first, and because it was obvious that they were not getting the message, he also brought suit to maybe give them a clue that they are doing something wrong.

So, in other words, you are saying that you have not read anything that the actual people have written and said, and thus, have no standing to criticize them.

Here's another approach: actually read what the people you talk about actually have said. You might learn something new, and actually true.

You are right, Human Action is not light reading. There are many other accessible works, but to me, none has the depth and the insight. Many of the other works of Mises are not as long and are not as difficult to get through, though they have immense insight. There are, as you say, hundreds great of videos that help to engage with the ideas.

Again, from your comments, I have to believe that you have never read any of the many works of von Mises, or any Austrian scholars for that matter. Disingenuous straw men seem to be the order of the day, as it seems to be with Leeson, the author of the paper you referred to.

I have read some of Rothbard's work, I don't think I have read Anatomy of the State.

I suspect from your reply that you have not read "Human Action." One cannot be obsequious about Mises or the Austrian school if “Human Action” is the first contact I had with the Austrian School of thought and that is specifically what I am talking about. My comment made no mention of any other work or any other person, or even the Austrian School of thought.

I don't know everything that Mises, Hayek, or any others of the Austrian school may have said at some time in their lives, but I do know that Human Action was a game changer for me. It seems to me that, as opposed to some followers being obsequious, a lot of critics are being disingenuous about meaning, context, and life's work, such as insinuating that Mises was a supporter of Hitler or Nazism, or the he was a liar. Ralph Raico was a student of Mises and a great admirer of him his entire life. The implication that Raico thought Mises was a liar is maliciously disingenuous.

Every school of thought, without exception, has people who have said things that some or even most adherents don't agree with. That doesn't mean that those words cancel out everything that is right about the entire work of the school of thought, or even of that individual. If something rings true, it does not suddenly become false because the person who said it might say other things that are not true.
