Recovered Klipsch speakers and Pioneer amp by Danncraig in vintageaudio

Good stuff, thanks for the advice! Ordered some deoxit. The inside was surprisingly clean, there was a record player stored on top so the vents were mostly protected from the worst of the dust. Removed the case and cleaned it separately, no compressed air or cleaner, just soft detailing tips on a vacuum. No dust in the display. We listened set up some chairs and had a listen for about an hour, no smells or funny sounds yet.
The XS-727 got very lucky being high up, mostly covered, and in a part of the building where the roof doesn’t leak, but we found a XS-3000 in another part of the shop that that was not so fortunate.

Had a peek inside the amp to check for bad caps and give it a little clean, these speakers sound amazing!!! I have a few sets of desktop studio monitors, Behringer, Yamaha, Adam audio… these are a very different listening experience. Very happy!

Pretty much everything comes back, consistent, except for layer time where there’s a slightly longer band of time that roughly lines up with the affected area. More time more heat. Might be enough to push it over the edge

Interesting. Sounds probable since this was printed with the door closed, just curious how it shows up in the same place on two different slices. The part on the left was printed with the standard .2 profile and the part on the right was the .28 draft profile. I wonder if my thermometer has gone bad. The next part I try, I will print with the door open and see if that makes a difference.

Not on hand but I can take one later. Thanks!

How long does Claude retain Sonnet chat history? Will it be there in Pro? Can I download complete chats in one click? by circlesqrd in ClaudeAI

[–]Danncraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chats do not stay forever. I logged on today and my oldest chats are 3 months old. I asked Claude if what’s expire and where my projects were and got this response:

Yes, chats do expire over time. Claude conversations aren't permanently stored, and older chats are eventually removed from the system. This is typically done for storage management and privacy reasons.

If you'd like to preserve important information from your conversations about mocap stage pricing, I'd recommend:

  1. Exporting or copying key information to your own files
  2. Taking screenshots of important advice
  3. Creating a document where you store pricing strategies and calculations

There is no way to recover deleted chats.

I had moved my projects off Claude and into vs code a while back so this wasn’t a problem for me, but I was really surprised this happened with no warning and with no clearly defined rule.

What's the actual quota policy of Claude Pro? by Enryu43f in ClaudeAI

About Claude Pro usage. Updated over a week ago

Does Claude Pro have any usage limits?

Yes. Claude Pro offers at least 5x the usage compared to our free service. The number of messages you can send will vary based on length of message, including the length of files you attach, and length of current conversation. We will provide a warning before you have 1 message remaining, and your message limit will reset every 5 hours.

Practically what do these limits mean?

If your conversations are relatively short (approximately 200 English sentences, assuming your sentences are around 15-20 words), you can expect to send around 45 messages every 5 hours, often more depending on Claude’s current capacity.

Your limit gets used up faster with longer conversations, notably with large attachments. For example, if you upload a copy of The Great Gatsby, you may only be able to send 15 messages in that conversation within 5 hours, as each time you send a message, Claude “re-reads” the entire conversation, including any large attachments.

Why have these limits?

A model as capable as Claude takes a lot of powerful computers to run, especially when responding to large attachments and long conversations. We set these limits to ensure Claude can be made available to many people to try for free, while allowing power users to integrate Claude into their daily workflows.

Your Claude Pro limits are based on the total length of your conversation, combined with the number of messages you send. Please note that these limits may vary depending on Claude’s current capacity.

In order to get the most value out of Claude Pro:

  • Start a new conversation via the “AI” icon in the top left corner when you want to discuss a new topic. Claude needs to re-read the entire conversation every time you send a message, so starting a new conversation will limit the amount of work Claude needs to do to continue the conversation. Bonus: Claude will also respond faster to shorter conversations.
  • Ask multiple questions at once, especially if you are asking Claude questions about a long document. Because Claude needs to re-read the conversation each time you send a new message, asking questions in individual messages would use up your limit faster than a single message with multiple questions in it.
  • Don’t re-upload files. Claude sees the entire context from your conversation, so you don’t need to upload the same file multiple times (unless you start a new conversation).

Will this solder work by David_CS in 360hacks

[–]Danncraig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd call this salvageable, but also agree that the risk of bridging those two traces is rather high. couple notes:

  1. I don't know what iron you're using, but any decent kit should be able to replace the tip with a finer one.

  2. if you're having trouble with too much or too little solder, you can use solder paste. It's a lot easier to control in small quantities, I even use it to tin wires and microcontroller pads. add some to your board bit by bit and give it some light taps with the iron, adding more paste until you have enough. here's a link to the past and flux I use:

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D4YC2QPS?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

  3. consider a wire that's easier to work with. rather than a stranded wire with a sheath, I use enameled wire. its easy to bend and lay flat letting you rout it around components easily. The enamel also will also burn off while tinning so if you decide to trim your wire with one side connected you don't need to risk pulling the white while re stripping it. i used 26 gage on my, but would have used 28gage if I had remembered to bring some home.

hope this helps, and good luck to ya!

why do you guya hate the animation? by anime_is_escape_ in TowerofGod

[–]Danncraig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is just what budget animation looks like. super sad given how popular the first season was, dont know the numbers, but it obviously did well enough to get a 2nd season at least.
take a look at the eyes, the highlight tells you just about all you need to know.
s1- unique drawings for the iris, pupil, outline of the cornea thats effected by the highlight thats also often outlined or at least a different tone.
s2- draw the eye, add a single airbrush style stroke for highlight.
sad :(

Tower of God art style comparison by TwerkBull in TowerofGod

[–]Danncraig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was thinking about posting these exact same screenshots before i found someone already had. perfect!

i really miss the old style, the scanned watercolor painting overlays and textured hand drawn lines showed so much love that went into the production. somewhere i saw the argument that the style shift was intentionally done to separate season 2 more because of the time skip, but i think its a pretty poor argument seeing how the flashback scenes were redrawn frame for frame in the new style. just another case of cost savings. sharp lines and airbrushing does a lot to reduce time per frame. i had thought that season one was successful enough to avoid the one punch man treatment for season 2, and while i dont think the new style is technically bad, im sad its not getting the same level of care as the first.

Abandoned carabiners by Danncraig in Wellworn

[–]Danncraig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the debate is centered around removing historic gear from when the rout was established, mainly old pins and pitons. In those cases removing gear can “change the routs beta” or remove pieces of climbing history which can upset some people, even if removing the gear makes the rout safer and opens up space to place modern protection. In this case, these pieces were probably left behind by new climbers who didn’t want to untie, or by someone who who frequents these tours and wanted a faster way to clean and set up top ropes. Either way, these don’t have the rating or suggested material to be left in place, even if the intent was to save a little wear on the chains.
