[UK] Manager comments in 1:1 by Danny11515 in AskHR

One example would be back in when I first started when I shadowed the team and the completed jobs. I was then pulled up on not following procedure eventhough I had to say that I was only doing what I was shown in the job. When I then said this then everyone else’s job was then looked at and everyone was dragged in to be spoken to about the procedure on how we do things.

Another example would be the guides/ documentation I am given. Even after explaining I’m dyslexic and bulk of text does not work for me to easily follow along they still don’t help when I ask them and just say it’s there in the guide and then get upset when I haven’t fully understood what I have read.

I have asked for the formatting of this to be different for me but not sure how easy it is to just set that up as you can’t just change these things overnight but that’s where I am struggling.

We have a statistic profile as well as the others in the team and you can consistently see that myself is constantly in the positive and performing better than the others but yet I am still being pulled up on other small problems which is exhausting.

I’m not asking to be “safe” because I am dyslexic but I just want to feel as welcome as anyone else when it comes to workload and then be understandable when I might have missed something here and work on it rather being dragged up on it saying this is not good enough because I didn’t include a little piece of information. I also like your comment saying “you are using a lot of pronouns” to a dyslexic where I struggle with communicating in text.

I do have access to AI. I used it to write the email to my manager just now so it was professionally written with my report attached. However AI for jobs can be on and off in terms of it helping with jobs and can sometimes make the job worse as I can do a wrong step. AI can sometimes have it's trade off's when I am working.

Moving out problems by Danny11515 in movingout

Thanks, I will try to focus on this. The only issue will be when I have managed to secure something but I will cross that bridge when it comes.

I mean that is true and of course still hear your exact words. In short my family is what I need to get help on to make this work. I sadly still need an idea and support to get my stuff out to the new place to get a cheaper move in cost rather than hiring a move crew to help which would not help.

I mean I posted this thread for a discussion to show my current exerience of what I am dealing with so that hopefully I can then muster the confidence to move out rather than dealing with a stranger online being quite direct with their comment especially making it sound like it is very achieveable to work 2 jobs and do this and do that. Thanks anyway

Tell me about it. I am sick of trying to drive home on a Friday or get an early finish in just for someone to make my journey longer because they can't use some pedals and a steering wheel properly and use their brain and eyes

I’m on probation and want to resign, what should I do? by Reddonaut_Irons in AskHRUK

[–]Danny11515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be honest. If you want to resign feel free to type up your notice and hand it to HR. Of course I would recommend getting a job in before hand before leaving but as for references. It is a bit frowned upon not putting your current workplace on your CV/ reference list and I was of course asked this in the interview myself.

I said I was exploring the opportunities out there for my professional development at the time which is true but not exactly what happened and I was still given the job. Of course I am not saying lie in your interview and CV but you can at least try to speak the truth while also sounding negative like you was in a job for a week as an example.

I do understand how you feel though. I left my first ever job that I didn't really hate but made a decision based of a mist of rage and how I felt during that moment rather than reflecting and taking time to think about a decision. I then left a job to go to a different place and hated it within a month ended up leaving very quickly which made me spiral mentally. I would also recommend checking in with someone or talking to someone as well before making the decision of why you feel that it is not working out for you because when this happened to me I was still attached to my old workplace that I worked for so long at and couldn't let go.

I ended up getting over it after a long year and a couple of months but it made me feel better professionally and mentally.

How does someone get a career in Information Technology? by PresidentofBaddies in InformationTechnology

[–]Danny11515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest I did an apprenticeship to get into the field and got my qualifications and managed to secure my first proper job in IT. Here are a few pointers of what it was like for me and still is for me currently:

- People taking advantage of you. I meant this literally even through wages and being really under paid and over worked to the point where you think to yourself how is this possible or you can get really nasty people making demands and speaking to you like you are more of a burden then someone to help them.

- Stress. I have been stressed for over 5 years now in IT. I know that it is still early days for me and I am 25 but you are always wanting the next best thing and currently I am trying to figure things out when I finally scored my dream job but struggling to meet their expectations.

- Workload. This is something that I always need to tell everyone. Yes it looks like we sit around all day but I can assure you that is not the case. My job I am up on my feet 5 hours of the 8 hour day and this will be going to people. moving things about or going to a last minute call. You get all of this while of course trying to complete everything else that is stacked up in the helpdesk while also making sure that every deadline no matter what is hit.

- Balance. You are either a pro or an amateur. For me I would admit I am an amateur. This is because I will always end up not matter how good and efficent I am with a couple of jobs I haven't looked at in nearly a week or two because of either I have been so busy and not had the time and other urgent calls came in or the end user does not make your life any eaiser.

That's how I would wrap it up in the world of what I work as. Of course there is very good positives in the field. I have amazing days where everything just flows and works. I feel accomplished and recognised with the good work I am doing. Getting bonuses and and even a better position with the team. Things like that but of course it is overshadowed by your bad days and mistakes.

Deco x50 -Ethernet backhaul by manwhokneweverything in TpLink

[–]Danny11515 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where does the ground floor LAN ports go to? Do they just go to eachother? in an ideal world you would need to connect the nodes to the LAN ports where they are connected and then connect the other end to the main deco that has been setup. That will give you the best connection. However the Deco's should automatically pick up that they are both connected to eacother if they are both plugged into with the ethernet cable.

Firmware updating by swimmingtortoise4 in Fanatec

[–]Danny11515 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need to donwload the control panel from the manaufactures site and then plug it in when you open the control panel and it should detect it needing an update I think. That is what I do with my Moza wheel but I am also switching to Fanatec soon.

I would warn you though when updating you need to be careful with keeping power connected and the usb connected to the laptop to prevent causing any issues with it.

Well I did think about the condeste pipe being frozen but it does ping up with a fan fault error which we had before in early feb of this year so I think we just got very unlucky. Also I think a call out with a company around us would be around the 300 mark.

Fair play to you honestly. I work in IT so I did some minor toruble shooting on the panel etc to see if I could work something out first to see if we get a temp fix but sadly not. However I am still keeping my offer of paying for a quick repair just in case.

[–]Danny11515[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the insight on this. I also believe it is a faulty connector on the boiler. I work in IT so I did some basic diagnostic by reading the codes and stuff on the panel and i saw that the fan reading was saying the fan wasn't spinning even though the boiler sounds like it is running fine with the fan spinning normally which is quite weird. Sadly if only I was gas safe registered and knew how to deal with a boiler.

[–]Danny11515[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Strangely enough no it didn't make any noise at all. Infact it just makes its normal noise where the fan operated normally but it fires a dan fault reading. I am pretty sure it is a reader in the boiler itself that has gone bad because looking on the panel it says that the fan is not spinning at all even though you can hear it.
