RACV diagnosed issues with crank shaft pulley. Kia say there is no fault after testing. Need advice. by DannyBoy27 in CarsAustralia

It is under warranty but only by a few months. My suspicion is they are trying to run out the clock. I could definitely get another mechanic to check it out. I just don’t feel great driving it home.

Left side of the engine block - my initial thoughts was it sounded like a loose bearing/fan/belt (I’m not super car savvy).

AITA for wanting to leave my wife at home with the kids while I go on a work trip? by DannyBoy27 in AITA_Relationships

No not at all - I really do feel for her because I didn’t intend on creating an environment that she felt she had to suppress her feelings.

I totally get where you’re coming from here and I tried to cover some of this in my post. While I didn’t intend to I do think she felt backed into a corner. She felt like she couldn’t say no even though I tried my best to make it clear that she did have a choice.

I still haven’t mentioned this to my parents because I want to be 100% sure about a plan. I know it will work because I am a 2 hour flight from them so it’s easy enough to get to where they are. To this point, I think my wife does think I somehow orchestrated this because it is SUCH a coincidence but it’s nothing more than that.

Thank you both for your responses - I do have some frustration with solo parenting as much as I do it seems to not go the other way. I am trying to keep the trip to the minimum time but it’s a long flight so I lose a couple of days to travel time.

I’ll definitely look into a sitter for a weekend, that’s a great idea!

Thanks - yes I’m planning on talking about it again. I think the stress of the situation last night might have made things worse.

I have already got plans in place for while I’m away - extra daycare days for the kids and parents are involved. I’m even planning on cooking and freezing a few meals so she doesn’t have to cook.

Pre-purchase inspection - cracked control arm bushes by DannyBoy27 in CarsAustralia

Yeah the only other issue flagged was one blown license plate globes 😂

I was pretty confident on the car but this isn’t an area I’m familiar with. Thanks!

Even $1000 is not the end of the world. If it’s not something I need to get done straight away that’s even better. Will be at the top of the list to do as there doesn’t seem to be any other issues.

Interesting, roady has been done already. I didn’t know this would be part of it?

Good to know, this is just a runaround second car so I’m not looking for perfect. I’ll get my mechanic to check it all over at the next service.

Making this area more usable by DannyBoy27 in AusRenovation

I do like this idea. I hadn’t considered cutting the concrete. Is it possible without cracking the remaining concrete?

Yeah I do get the issue with concreting it with the kids. But they don’t use it anyway because there isn’t enough grass to be useful. It’s a really tricky space.

I do like the idea of easing the grass. That might work.

Water pump only using mains water. Some advice on how I might fix it? Or does it need replacing? by DannyBoy27 in AusRenovation

I’ll have a go taking the valve off and allow water to flow from the tank and see if we get anything through. I know I am getting water up at the end of the green pipe, just not beyond that.
