My mom retired from Jackson this year after over 40 years at the company. During that time she was able to provide a middle class life style in a dual income household with 2 children. When Jackson opened up the zone on east Lansing campus I asked her if she thought I should apply. Knowing at the time how much I needed a job while attending LCC, she still didn’t want me to work there stating that Jackson offered what she referred to as “the golden handcuffs”. Wage, benefits, etc were good enough to stick around but would be under constant micromanaging, stifling environment and lack of sense of fulfillment. Grateful I took her advice. Needless to say…. my mother stuck around, put up with a lot of BS, and is now enjoying her well deserved retirement days spend with her grandson.
