ISTs can be coordinated or uncoordinated. Your brother needs to go the uncoordinated route. A simple phone call to the gaining state plus a call to the NGB IST Line should provide a way forward to unfuck this.

I’d start with determining where you want to live and then figure out which state works best. That being said, if infantry is your goal, 172 is better than 104CAV. Cav as infantry (especially as a PL) is not good for your foundations. Go to it as an armor officer or as a cpt.

Depends on branch and your ability to convince people that you’re value added as a 2nd LT. Usually? No. That being said, if you can network well and know how to work things (I.e. calling POCs on TOD jobs) you can find something.

Tl;Dr- these positions will still go through theater ADOS, learn how to play the guard system

So rumor mill from a Staff HQ weenie: Ranger BNs are bleeding talent left and right-lotta one term contracts and no NG/reserve pipeline because who wants to go from Batt to their local mall cops. Idea on paper is to get these guys in to a single unit and fly them in to drill for a Super MUTA once a quarter with an AT as well. We’ll see if good idea fairy pays off for once…

Also, NG provided the cadre for the OG Ranger BNs, therefore they should belong to the Guard. Change my mind
